Yea sure buddy

We already know who only has the authority & that is JR. During the press conference  DG said its up to Ron because he knows damn well he doesn't have any input maybe he can consult him but that's it.

Unless you have DGs contract or work in the organization admin your just speculating like everyone else.

Actually, plenty of people with actual inside info rather than stupid ass speculation have confirmed that Gettleman has the authority to override Rivera, and to fire anyone he chooses (same as pretty much every other GM-coach relationship in the league). Only dumbasses with hair brained, dimwitted conspiracy theories think otherwise.

But again, if you can, show a single shred of evidence from a reliable source indicating any such thing happened. Unless you can do that, it's just your own idiotic idea.

If Gettleman has this authority like people think, who has he actually fired himself since he has been here??

Ron is the one always addressing all staff changes. Why would he cross that road if the owner only gave him the job if he was okay with the current staff staying? Jesus, people really still believe he is a full decision making GM??

Every coach in the league is allowed control of his staff. Few exceptions are made, but they happen.

Our own Coach Rivera wasn't Lovie Smith's choice for DC, but the team asked Smith to keep him, and he did for three years before letting him go. Likewise, Pittsburgh asked Mike Tomlin to keep Dick LeBeau. And even the Panthers asked Ron Rivera to keep Sam Mills III.

And yes, per every source with actual inside knowledge, Gettleman has final say on all football matters.

Your always posting right after Mr, either its the Alt account or working together to spread propaganda.

He wasn't allowed to hire his own coaches,(which most GMs do when hired)  he admitted in the press conference that he can't fire assistant coach & its up to Rivera. He assured everyone that there will be more input from coaches which leads me to believe that he heard am earful from JR, basically put your ego down and get with program :)

Not all GMs are designated the same power.

If a GM is firing position coaches, then the relationship between the HC and GM is probably beyond repair. I'm sure Gettleman and most GMs sit down with their HCs to review staff at the end of the season, but the final call on those decisions should be up to the HC.

As far as Gettleman's ability to actually fire Ron? Not sure about that based on the fact that Ron staying on when Gettleman was hired was a condition of his employment per JR.

Gettleman was in his first season as GM with the team when a report surfaced that the Panthers had begun doing background checks on head coaching candidates. Carolina was 1-2 and had gotten off to slow starts in each of Rivera’s first two seasons, so his position seemed tenuous — particularly after he had been left for dead the previous offseason, just before Gettleman was hired.

The only thing is – according to Gettleman – replacing Rivera was the furthest thing from his mind.

“When that (media) report came out when we were 1-2 that we were looking for a head coach I was so f****** furious,” he told Marvez. “I got up in the press box when one of the (reporters) came over to me about it and said, ‘This is unbelievable bulls***. It’s unequivocally false.’ I went to Ron after I heard it and said, ‘Talking man-to-man here, that is bulls***.’ Let’s keep working and get this fixed.’ We then went on an eight-game winning streak.”

Basically, there was a rumor floating around that Gettleman was looking to fire Rivera. Gettleman caught wind of it and went to Rivera to assure him he has no plans to fire him.

But as is obvious from the story, he could have. If he didn't have the power, this would have been a non-story.

Likewise, when there was massive discussion about firing Richard Rodgers, Voth confirmed that Gettleman could make the decision if he wanted but he defers to Rivera on coaching decisions, just like every other GM in the league.

David Newton has also confirmed that Gettleman has final say on draft picks, though he prefers a collaborative approach.

So again, your theory has no backup.

Try again, kid.

Pretty much.

I can't believe people in here think that GMs don't have the ability to terminate or retain. I mean, you gotta be one dumb fug to think so. GMs (the smart ones) don't just fire without reasonable cause, and in most cases they leave that duty to the head coach.

Well Ron was retained before Gettleman was hired, even when Ron was on the hot seat he himself said it was JR who told him he was safe, not Gettleman. That tells you that pretty much Gettleman doesn't make the call to retain/fire Ron, JR does.
