Trade Idea: Batum for Butler

It's being rumored on RGM that the Bulls and Celtics are discussing a trade for Jimmy Butler.  I can't really think of any pieces the Celtics can offer that move the needle anymore than Batum does.

And while I love Batum and I know he loves it here, it just so happens that we could swap Batum for Butler straight up.  And it just so happens, Batum isn't having all that great of a year.  Perhaps a shake up for both teams and players would do them good.  And as an aside, according to ESPN's trade machine, we would be projected +9 wins in the deal.

Obviously Batum isn't THE problem here.  He is a really good player, but he is having a tough year and I don't think he is part of the long-term solution without other pieces we can't really get without hitting on draft picks.

Yeah, I would figure we would have to throw in a 1st or two, but just thought i would throw it out there...  I also find it weird that all is quiet on the hornets front as far as rumors go, when you would think we would be among the more active teams considering how the season is going so far.

The fuging Kings just traded Cousins for Buddy fuging Hield and a 1st rounder

We couldn't do anything close to that?

EDIT: They threw in Tyreke Evans too but...c'mon

Once i saw the deal, i was disappointed.  I dont think boogie would be great here, but at this point I want any move that gives me hope for the future...  and seeing what he was traded for, my first thought was, "we couldn't have traded for him?"

That is possibly the worst value for a superstar trade I have seen in a long time.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
