Cap savings IF we cut Stewart, Gano, and Dickson

Cut Dickson.   Cut Gano IS there is a better option available.

Stewart should stay, even if we draft a RB, you'll want them spelling off each other because the rest of our RB's aren't that great.

Lee is the tough one so I'm not sure.

Lee & Dickson should be cut, Palardy came in did hell of a job leading to the question why did we trade a 4th round for Lee when we could have signed Palardy. Panthers already had a preview in the off season & kept Tabs on him for good reasons.

Simonson is a good #3 TE that can block better than Dickson & has ability to improve in the passing game if he gets consistent reps.

We we need to keep J-Stew and return back to double trouble.  Draft Fournette and let him take on more of the tradition run  game while J-Stew does pass protection, dump-offs, &RO.

Another good addition that can be addressed in mid rounds is a slot WR in mold of Edelman aka white chocolate . Trade Funchess for 3rd or 4th round pick if there are suitors.

Its like the Panthers have had success finding serviceable RBs outside of JStew smh....Gman would have found a way to cut Jstew a long time ago if there were decent replacements..

Literally, outside of D Will since Stew has been here no one else that we have played at that position could be an every down back. This dude is a beast when healthy too, not many keep them legs churning like he does.

Which is why you cut and re-sign him. Laid it out in detail in a post above. No reason to take a 8.2M cap hit when you can get the player for so much less.

I think you just pay him his final year of contract and move on fresh if desired next year. But I guess I see your point.

So we should throw away almost 4M because he's been here? I think we've overpaid JS plenty in his time in CAR. Why are people having a hard time with this?

J Stew is a stud not only does he have the physical traits but has very good instincts especially in pass protoection and zone reads.  We need another back like Fournette to take the physical load while he does his damage in receiving game I believe he had 410 yds in 2012

Primarily because Stewart is our best back (not close) and we don't have a replacement lined up for him. It'd be moronic to cut for an extra 4 million.

That 3.75M is if we re-sign him at 2.5M for this year. The number is 6.25M if we just let him go. Something I never suggested. I want him back too. But not making any effort to lower that cap hit is just throwing money out the window.

The big picture is the salary cap. What "big picture" are you referring to? Do tell.

I'm referring to those who believe his ability has fallen off. Those people aren't seeing the big picture (regarding Stew's talent). Slow, predictable, read option plays, with a banged up Cam Newton made it easy for defenses to key on Stew. They knew he was getting the ball.

Salary is a different issue. I'm all for a restructure, but even if he doesn't restructure, who would we replace him with? Backs at his size, with his skill level, agility, and elusiveness don't grown on trees.

If we were cap strapped, this might be a conversation, but since we have ample monies available, why even worry about this at the moment?

If we draft Fournette, then we can talk.

The big picture to me is that when you have a lot of cap space you don't need to cut players for the sake of getting a little more cap space. You need to have a team. It's not just a financial exercise.

Pairing Stew and Fournette is ideal. Then you can move on next year with ease knowing what you have.
