Eric Berry doesn't expect long-term extension with Chiefs

Its half of the cap. $43M - $14M equals $29M, not $39M.

The cap room really does disappear when locking up these players. I'm not sure if the $43M is factoring Mario Addison's contract as well...

I would love to get Berry, but someone is going to pay him big bucks and i dont see it being the Panthers.

Yeah, the 43 is factoring in Mario's.  So, we would still have 21 mill left.

Two problems. Math first, 43-14 is 29 but Star is already under contract for 2017 and included in the cap number. Adding 8M more for Star is David Newton math.

Yeah, that's what I thought.  So, we would have 29 mill, basically.  That's why I think my math was messed up.  Since we already have Star under contract.

If we hope to sign KK and Star to long term deals that cap room quickly disappears especially if we have to tag KK. I would say that it is highly unlikely Berry comes to Carolina (although I would love it). It would limit our spend on other areas of need like OL and WR.

We are not signing KK. He want 17 million for a disappearing act last year. Not going to happen.

DG wants to build the front 7 . We are more likely to go after a pass rusher than a safety . Get pressure up front consistently and the safety position becomes less important. This is the Gettleman way.

We just signed a pass rusher. Way to go joe persons in us.

DG can't get enough pass rushers .if you think we are done because of Mario Addison...you must be new here .

Lol says the guy who has less than 200 posts. We have Addison if you think we will give another huge contract to a DE you need to up your meds.

Well, we need depth, so of course those added $1-3 mil chunks will take off some of the cap. But still, we'll have enough to make a decent bid at FA.

Berry again is more of a luxury rather than fixing a position of need. Cyprien makes more sense in the fact he fixes our SS; Berry is a FS.

Berry is just extremely talented and would allow Colman to play in the box. But yes Cyprien would not be a bad choice either.

Berry is clearly the priority for the Chiefs. However, he has made it clear that he has no plans to play out another season under the franchise tag, so the two sides will need to be focused on getting a long-term deal in place.

Berry admitted that he isn’t getting his hopes up when it comes to a long-term contract.

“I’m going to keep being patient because you never know,” Berry said Sunday, via the Kansas City Star. “Last year I thought one thing and it didn’t happen. So I’m not getting my hopes up; I’m looking at it logically.”

    • I'll be honest.  I'm not sure I want to see any those guys returning right now given what others are presently doing.... minus Coker.  Hubbard returning likely messes the run game up (I mean, it's going to come down regardless but he still), Tremble and Evans actually are doing well, Corbett seems to make us worse up front, and the D has made some strides.  I'd like to just keep that whole lot on the shelf this week.
    • I don't think people know that Icky is still only 25 years old. Panthers signed UDFAs older this year and drafted DJ Johnson. Heres a fact, a deep fact.... Its easier(much) to find a good-great QB than good-great LT. Another fact there's only 12-15 true LTs and the others are larping as LT.  SO....(I'm not a fan btw)......you nearly must resign him at all cost even with him being around the 12th best at times. Its the hardest spot to fill and he's still awful young with 4 years as a pro. Carolina already got 4 years of "cheap" service as well, that's invested time and effort.  The fan-side of me hopes he signs some top 5 at best top 3 big money deal. Just the cap keeps growing and LTs, young LT with experience are rrrrrrare and unique. Tag him if needed and tag him again, then trade him. I think he enjoys being/living in NC.  I hope he's stays on a team friendly deal, but those are soooo rare these days.  Only two options- pay him whatever, even if it's top $$$$$(uggggghhhh..) or tag him for 2027 and keep trying to pay. Worst outcome is trading him for couple 1s, 3s, and 5th maybe a player too.
    • I always loved DJ Moore.  I don't see him wanting to comeback here.  He seems to be tired of inconsistent QB play and you finally see that bubbling over in Chicago.  or maybe he just doesn't like the people.  He actually seemed fine with Fields.....and lobbied for them not to draft Caleb.  So maybe it's just a Caleb issue (and I think Caleb might have tons of baggage/issues that rub folks wrong)
