Just trying to make sense of/give some validity to the trade up rumor that was circulating...its not as far fetched as some would like to think

Yes it is.

Do you want Garrett and basically nothing else from this draft, or do you want Fournette/Adams, along with maybe McKinley and Zay Jones plus whoever you like in the 3rd and 4th rounds?

We aren't talking about a franchise QB. Garrett is not worth that sacrifice.

If you use the NFL trade value chart there are multiple scenarios where we retain picks this year...plus Like i said in OP that value increases factoring in a 1st next season, which should be a late 20s pick....it's just fan speak and crazier things have happened. No point in everyone getting bent out of shape over it

I'd do it. A future Julius Peppers learning behind Julius Peppers and both rushing the passer on the same down?

Holy hog mollie.

This gets pie simply for the phrase holy hog mollie!  That is just awesome.

I have to say, as much as I hated our 6-10 season, it is a LOT more fun to play with draft scenarios at #8 than at #31.  So much more passion regarding who we pick and the sense that the stakes are much higher.  It's fascinating to read all the speculation about trades up & trades down and who actually is a top tier player.  I'm surprised at how little consensus there is.  I initially assumed that picking at #8 would have less drama, since I assumed there would probably be a tighter consensus about the top 10 players and greater clarity about what teams ahead of us might do.  Either I wasn't paying much attention in prior years (probably true... didn't really care much about the draft prior to 2013) or this year the uncertainty about the 1op 10 is greater.

And what if it's not?

What if, for example, Cam doesn't respond well to his surgery? Any way you cut it, this would be an extremely risky move.

And what if we pull off a move for the next Von Miller/khalil mack...the what if game works both ways

Just to be clear for anyone not aware, using the most common value chart, we would need to give up all of our picks in this draft plus next year's first to move to 2.

Still think it's a good idea?

Remember the Saints and Ditka? It wouls be that stupid if not worse considering the nfl knows better by now. Even if it was half of that....1/4 of that.....just no

Absolutely not but again, the trade value chart is a baseline only.  There's no franchise QB at play on either side, and quite frankly you'd have a team in San Fran far more desperate for assets than we'd be to get to 2.  Translation-we'd have the leverage.
