Marlon Favorite

d-run

Recommended Posts

Alot of people, including me, thought he had a shot at making the 53 man roster this year but was cut. I thought he had a very good preseason, and had a chance to make an impact on the team this year.

NFL.com is reporting we added him to the practice squad yesterday. I havent seen this reported anywhere else, and it isn't on the panthers website. Has anyone else seen this? Does any think he might get promoted to the 53 man roster anytime this year?

Meh if we ever hope to stop the run we'll need a 5 man front consisting of Brayton, Lewis, Harris, Marlon Favorite, and Peppers.

The 5-2 at one time was a widely used D scheme. Of course the reason it isn't used today is a good passing game will eat it for breakfast.

I thought i saw a couple downs where we actually ran a 5 man front against the boys. But that might have been Davis blitzing.

If you want 5 men on the front a more likely formation would be the 4-3 under or over where one LB lines up on the line standing up. You can either blitz him or drop him back into coverage. IMO TD would be awesome lining up at the line every snap. It lets a coach be a little more creative while still using the same base D. I would really like Fox to get creative and throw out a 3-4 look every once in awhile. If nothing else it makes others teams gameplan for one more thing.

And lets face it our D can't look much worse (although they did play a decent 1st half).

They also maybe be wrong..They said we had Jleman on the PS when he was with the eagles.

This is what I was thinking. It doesn't say we dropped anyone from the ps, and the panthers aren't reporting it on their website. No beat writer has reported it from what I see. I think they may be wrong, but I don't know. Was wondering if anyone else heard anything about it.

Did Leman play ST in the preseason. It seems that as good of a ballhawk and tackler as he was on D he would excel on ST.

yeah..he did ST..but the panthers did not get him because they felt he was not fast enough for this defense and did not have enough position versatility.

Yeah our killer ST doesn't need a guy that has a nose for the football, good tackler, and is cheap as hell.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
