REPORT: Browns talked to Panthers about move up from 12

NFL Network's Mike Silver reports the Browns have talked with three teams picking in the top eight about a trade up from No. 12.

Likely to select Myles Garrett at No. 1 overall, the Browns might have to move up from No. 12 for their latest "quarterback solution." The Browns have been linked to UNC's Mitchell Trubisky for months, but his stock is unclear. He could go anywhere from No. 2 to No. 12. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported as recently as three days ago that the Browns were still seriously considering Trubisky at No. 1, but it's ultimately unlikely.

I must have smoked some crack, because I have no idea what's going on anymore....

Once you come down off your high you'll realize you haven't missed a thing.  Lot's of reports, sources, and theories with little to no relevance or significance.

Of course every team is exploring options, but I guess during draft week that turns into news...

The difference this year especially is that people fully buy in to each and every rumour. it seems.

Looked at your post and was overjoyed that someone was as over trade talks as I was. Looked at your user name and was immediately horrified. So many mixed emotions.

First one to post a topic not relating to a rumored trade gets unlimited pie from me for every post until after the draft. Yes - we have talked with other teams about trades. Yes - it may happen. No - I do not care that our FO is on the phone right now working on a lot of scenarios with a lot of teams.

My ideal scenario is us dropping to 12.

In that scenario, Saints don't go full stupid and try for McCaffrey, and we get him.

Then trade up to get Njoku and you'll see a very happy man.

Sorry my dreams will come true first.

Fournette at 8

Panthers move back up at 12 or 18 pickup OJ Howard.!

Agree and it seems they are doing so no matter how much they contradict each other.

And still trying to figure out how they fit together. I've got to the point in recent years that the draft itself is more interesting if I dont get so emersed in the pre draft stuff.

I can't wait to see some new debates less of these stupid x > y > z stuff

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
