New lady in the Panthers circle

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

For whatever you think of Coach Rivera, it's pretty much impossible to not like his wife Stephanie.  I've been a fan of Mrs. Riv ever since I saw her trash talking opposing teams on Twitter.  Have heard her in interviews and such several times since.  She's great.

Well now, there's another lady entering the Panthers family that I think we're all gonna like too.

Christian McCaffrey's mom, Lisa.

Mama McCaffrey was the subject of a Mother's Day podcast with ESPN's Adam Schefter.  If you spare 25 minutes or so of your time to listen to her interview (linked here) you won't regret it.

Let me say this up front: If, like me, your expectations of what Mom's gonna sound like are based on what you've seen of son Christian so far, well...ya might just be in for a weeeeee bit of a surprise.

Enjoy.

More than adequate replacement for Mama Tolbert. I hope she gets involved with the Riot too

Can we all just take the time to remember when she tried to come at me because I told her man that he needs to retire... and I wasn't even being rude I was saying that he used to be good and he used to be productive but he is no longer productive and right after that Redskin game she was like what did you say

Christian McCaffrey on being drafted by the Panthers:

"It's such a blessing to be a part of this organization. I'm so thankful that they believed in me enough to trust me with that eighth pick. I just can't wait to get out there and do whatever I can to help them win games."

Lisa McCaffrey, after being told ESPN producers don't allow curse words on the podcast:

"He just said he was okay! I can say as many as I want and he can bleep them out cause I'm anticipating saying a lot talking to you. Unbelei-no.  He said I can say things.  Stop! I'm allowed to!"

Yeah, Mama Tolbert was in the right on this one. You don't say things like that about someone's kid and expect them to sit down, respectfully listen to your opinion and then thank you graciously for it.

Dang, that was dumb of you.

Miko Grimes type vocal....

Wouldn't go that far. She's vocal, not crazy.

That said, I wouldn't wanna be the person that attacks one of her kids. And yes, by extension she may come to be defensive of the team he plays for as well.

Clearly, she's also not the least bit shy when it comes to sharing embarrassing stories about Christian. Boy, wouldn't I love it if cash back worked like that.

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
