I'm pretty sure UDFA's get a say in who they sign with, so the premise of your post is wrong. Also, I'll bet some fans were saying the same thing about the UDFA TE we signed last year too.

Desean Smith is very talented. LSU fans would've liked if he was involved in the offense more but Les Miles had different plans.

There was no film on him and he didn't test well. He could be a steal if comes to camp to play.

The Panthers signed tight end Desean Smith, a tryout at a recent rookie minicamp. Smith (6-5, 245) caught 19 passes for 346 yards and a touchdown during his college career at LSU. Carolina releases offensive tackle Pearce Slater to make room for Smith.

He was not invited to the combine and did not test particularly well at LSU’s pro day in April.

Smith ran the 40 in 4.95 seconds, did 13 reps on the 225-pound bench press and had a vertical leap of 28 1/2 inches.

No what? I'm positive that UDFA's can sign with any team that offers and I'm also sure that the talent level of this Hollister guy is just your opinion and it's no better or worse than my opinion. I am also quite certain that a lot of fans just like you thought Sandland would be better than he was. Stop acting as if yours is the only opinion that matters. It's annoying and people don't like it.
