  • Several players made a splash during the initial red zone period. Running back Fozzy Whittakericon-article-link.gif continues to be in the middle of the action, stymied on a short route by Davis before coming back for a touchdown reception from Anderson over the middle. Whittaker, Samuel and fullback Darrel Youngicon-article-link.gif caught TD tosses over the middle near the goal line, but the defense controlled action outside of that window. Cornerback James Bradberryicon-article-link.gif broke up Anderson's last shot in the first red zone period, and on the next play, cornerback Captain Munnerlynicon-article-link.gif broke up Joe Webbicon-article-link.gif's first attempt. Recently signed quarterback Garrett Gilberticon-article-link.gif got just one snap in the period but made the most of it, hooking up with fullback Alex Armahicon-article-link.gif in the flat. Armah looked fully capable of finishing it off if live contact were allowed.

Woo Hoo! Armah made a play!

Anyone have any idea how Zeek Bigger has been doing?  He signed a 3 year deal yesterday.  (Panthers hold the option on all 3 years... ha)  Hoping for PS at minimum.

As an ECU alum, I'm also curious

I think PS is perhaps what we should potentially expect with the logjam we have at the LB position

Sure would be nice to see Armah be a "project" that actually works out for us

He doesn't look like he'd be very much fun to tackle or have coming full steam ahead at you...

I totally agree.  The only glimmer of hope I see was with Klein leaving.  I think Zeek could beat out Mayo, if given a fair shot.

I believe he'll make the team due simply to the fact that he can play ST. His FB play would be an added bonus.

Well since there's only one other viable FB on the roster,  (Darrel Young, who also scored in the red zone today) and that they used a valuable draft pick on him, I would say that's a pretty darn good guess.

I think somebody in the media asked RR about him yesterday. Go check it out at Panthers.com. There are a couple  pics of Biggers up too.

Agreed it's a good guess.  I'd normally agree that since he was a draft pick he'd make the 53, but was also wondering if the Panthers might be thinking they could stash him on the PS for a year to let him develop (since he hasn't played FB in a long time) with very little to no risk of another team stealing him away.  Basically just because I don't think many people know about the guy, much less have film to study of him.  TC will be intriguing as always.

    • It’s a fan message board. Fans are going to debate players. Especially the QB. I hope no one is genuinely upset about any of the dialogue on here.
    • Teddy Bridgewater was a check down QB….saying that doesn’t mean that he literally can’t and won’t throw downfield in a season.  Bryce Young was never drafted to be big armed downfield passer.  I don’t get those out defending him when it’s pointed out that he just  isn’t that.   And finding a game or two where he goes downfield doesn’t change much.  Because all QBs eventually go downfield.  Just like a Delhomme or Favre will play it safe in some random games.  Doesn’t mean they aren’t gunslingers that got gambling in their DNA.
    • Yeah, Fitzgerald was smart to sign with the panthers--not sure how many NFL teams were in the Market....I was surprised to see Morgan re-sign Tuttle and Ray--even if Ray's contract is completely unguaranteed--but with Brown, Wharton, Brown III, Robinson, Cam Jackson--maybe Crumedy--Tuttle could be excellent depth--but at DE, not DT, imo.  Once again, it appears that Morgan may have found UDFAs who have a shot making the team--last year, there were 2 who contributed in a meaningful way.  This year, I see CBs Thornton and Reid with a legitimate shot to make the roster.  I also think LB Nomura has a legit shot (Morgan has to love this guy) as well as LB Bam Martin Smith from USC.  Finally, I think one of the safeties will stick. In all, I expect 1-2 CBs, 1 LB, 1 S, 1 OL, 1 K to make this team. Predictions:   CBs Thornton and Reid make the 53-man roster.  LB Tuasivi Nomura makes the 53-man roster as a ST ace and ILB depth OL Michael Tarquin may make the roster to groom as a potential RT replacement for Moton.  Moton, BC, and Nijman are on expiring contracts.  While I like what I am hearing about Kandra, the OG room is very crowded.  Lewis, Hunt, Zavala, Kingston--but he could compete for the 4th G job. S:  Trevian Thomas, Isaac Gifford are probably the front runners, but Jack Henderson from Minnesota might be able to win a S spot as well.  I expect all three will not make the 53, but the darkhorse name to watch is Henderson. Henderson's Pro day: Minnesota DB Jack Henderson had arguably the BEST overall workout of any Safety in this entire draft: 40yd. 4.47 vertical. 40” Broad. 10’8” Shuttle. 4.15 3cone. 6.70 Bench. 12
