Panthers New Coach

think I like Gruden the best... he seems to be in touch. Hes coached a rag tag team to the superbowl and has pushed a team over the top to win a bowl. Bucs are going to be sorry they let him go...I smell 4-12 days for those douch bags for a long time.
only reason he won that superbowl was he wrote the other team's offensive playbook.

Wait... Gruden? Sorry for cussing but WHY THE fug would we want Gruden when we dont have a QB? Do we really wanta 50 Quarterback carousel for the next 5 seasons here in Carolina?

Now, maybe if we had a franchise back i wouldn't mind seeing what he could do, but as it stands he would obliterate our team if we don't have a QB.

What a RETARDED post.

Did he write the playbooks of all the other teams they beat on the road to the Super Bowl?

What a shortsighted IGNORANT thing to say.

:P

the bucs had been in the playoffs 4 of the previous 5 years before gruden got there. they just needed someone to get them the ring. what better guy to do it than the guy who wrote the playbook for the other offense?

good coincidence for the bucs. trade played in their favor. gruden spent his career in tamp riding on the success of the defenhse that was already installed.

sorry if it is a slight on gruden if he's your boy but he's overrated.

Besides the Dungy influence, the best part of Gruden's teams were Kiffin's continued presence. Gruden's rah-rah locker room presence and motivational speakers got old fast in the meantime. He's got a short shelf life.

But he said a couple nice things about Carolina and is somewhat entertaining on MNF, so that's a perfect reason to think he's a great coach.

gruden wouldn't have gotten there had it not been for what dungy built and wouldn't have lasted nearly as long without kiffin.

Totally agree. But Dungy, couldnt get it done(ala Fox). Gruden did with the same team. thats the 'the intangible a coach has' that can push them above and behond....I feel the the Panthers have the personel to get it done but we need that 'intagible' that a coach has to get them there. No disrespect to Fox.... but lets roll to the next level....

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
