Yep. It's Happening: "#Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney meeting today, league source said. Expected to be named interim GM."

Do you even read what you write?

Some people on here are legitimately showing their lack of brain cells.

Should probably look in the mirror.

When you aren't copying and pasting from twitter your inability to think for yourself really shows.

Very nice.

Interesting how you are shocked (SHOCKED) at a rude comment about TDs knee, but didn't have a single millisecond of criticism for the death wishes for Gettleman in this thread.

Almost hypocritical, as it were.

Who the hell wished Gettleman would die? The only death wish I saw was PF hoping JR would die and people let him have it.

Stop crying and accept the fact the fat man is gone!

Um - do you not realize whose pocket that money for the spending spree came from ?  This board blamed Hurney for those mistakes but it certainly looks now like it had nothing to do with him and everything to do with JR

And there is another difference between Hurney and Gettleman.

Gettleman will stick by his convictions not to penalize the well-being of the team with bad deals at the cost of his job.

Hurney will "Yassa boss!" and rubber-stamp anything as long as JR tells him to do it.

That's the difference between a seasoned football professional and a yes-man.

That's the difference between the New York Giants organization in their hey-day and Jerry Richardson's Carolina Panthers.

In Olsen's case we should extend him to remain a Panther for the remainder of his career but clauses if he starts to decline significantly.

TD's case I think we should extend him as well but also have clauses that protect the Panthers.

No offense intended here, but this is pie-in-the-sky GM'ing.

Outside of the occasional player with weight clauses, there is no player in the league that has a contract with clauses that CUT his salary if his performance isn't up to snuff.  And even the weight clause guys are only forfeiting incentive bonuses, not salary.

NO player is going to sign a contract that depends primarily on performance from year to year. You're not being realistic here. What players want are as large a signing bonus up-front as possible and as much GUARANTEED over the term of the contract they can get,

Maybe because the roster he had when he got here was nowhere near what gettleman had when he walked threw the door?

Sent using the amazing CarolinaHuddle mobile app

Hurney left a 7-9 roster... And no money to spend. ( I know he got fired after the 1-5 starter )

Not like Hurney build a powerhouse for Gettleman. The draft 2009-10 and 2011 was pretty much the worst piece of poo you could find. And top that with the fact Hurney tried to trade a first rounder (Newton) for Clausen. He was damn lucky.

On top of that, Hurney had 10 years.... He had a lot of time to build a team we could dominate with... But he never did.

He got his chance and fuged it up. For some odd reason we now give him yet another chance. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Sorry the last week has not gone your way my NFC South brethren.  the Falcons could use even more red and black at the Bank of America and we'll be glad to have you.  Good luck in the hunt for the permanent GM, hoping you guys get a wildcard.

I hear you, that was brutal and I'll never get over it.  Hopefully with our youth, not losing any players of note(yes I know we lost our OC), and additions we bounce back stronger but you never know.

I'm not being hateful, I just noticed a lot of fans declaring that they are no longer Panthers fans so I wanted them to know there is a young, healthy, respectful, well coached team that is not that far away who comes to BOA every year that would be happy to have them cheer for them.

As for the die hard Panthers fans I hope you get 2nd place, the 5th seed and make it to the NFC Championship Game.  No hate, I like you more than the Bucs and especially the Saints.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
