What does an NFL GM do, anyway?

Hurney was not a good GM nor will he ever be a good GM. There is a reason he wasn't hired anywhere else and it's not because he didn't have an infinite supply of Bojangles like Mister Richardson.

DG was only hired once as GM as well

I wonder why there was not an announcement yesterday after the meeting with Hurney?  Not even a source leaking info.  Is it possible that Hurney turned down the offer due to the backlash from fans?  Remember...Hurney and JR are very close and several sources said that he volunteered to step down in 2012 to protect Rivera, JR, and the team.  Hurney seems like a true good guy who just might have turned down this offer to protect JR.

Then again...I could be talking out my ass.

That would seriously be the best thing Hurney has done since drafting Luke.

I'm over the Gettleman being fired deal. Whatever. He fixed our cap, was an excellent talent evaluator in terms of bargain bin free agents, drafted a few key players, but he wasn't without his own faults.

This offseason was his best yet, on paper at least...just makes the timing annoying.

If Hurney is brought in, it's just a huge slap in the face from the owner of this franchise. We do not need Hurney. We do not NEED an interim GM at all, for that matter.

There is a possibility the league may force the Panthers to comply with the Rooney Rule.
