As a Gamecock alumni and current resident of Columbia, SC....this is pretty exciting to me.

Might try and stalk him and see if I can get some sort of inside scoop on working under Richardson.

Can't hurt to give it the old college try.

Don't waste your time. He is a man of great integrity. Doubt he'll give any kind of inside scoop to anybody.

Yeah I was being somewhat sarcastic.

Still going to stop by his office and try and chat with him for a bit.

lol (the other) USC is trash

LOL

Honestly, before I was 18 and attended Georgia, I didn't even know there was another "USC." It's really none of my business, but they really should have chosen something else to latch on to. If I were a SC alum, I'd be slightly embarrassed to use that nickname because it's almost an admission that you're the fake one. It's akin to being "the other Steve Smith."

Sorry, guys, there is only one.

A man's integrity can't really be questioned because he tells his own story with honesty, from his own perspective.

The University of South Carolina was actually established well before Southern Cal, 79 years to be exact. 1801 vs 1880. Granted it was changed from college to university in 1865 to officially become the University of South Carolina.

Yeah, well that's nice and all, but that kinda makes it worse. You ironically could have kept your original title, but changed it loosely to "USC," then let some school in southern California appropriate it by manifesting superior sports (and academics, really, but shhhh).

This is pretty interesting actually. Good for him. What did you study at USC?

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
