Run Defense differential.

Although we haven't yet played a fourth game, we now officially have the worst Run defense in the NFL(182 YPG) However by next game we may have two starters back(diggs and Harris) as well as Thomas in the middle. Do you guys see a significant change in that number (barring no injuries) for the rest of the season or do we continue to hover around 160-180 rushing yards a game?

Not trying to be a downer but they were playing last year when the D was getting walked all over as well so I doubt there will be much of a difference. Could be wrong but I'm not holding my breath.

What hurt us last year, was that Kemo, Lewis and Beason were all playing hurt at the end of the year. When those guys were healthy, this defense was pretty darn good.

Personally, I think Hollis Thomas is gonna help a lot. At the very least, he won't get blown 5yds off the line by one blocker like Nick Hayden does, and he should keep those linemen from getting their hands on Beason so often.

We still need to cover better though. It's time for Godfrey and Harris to start making some damn plays against the pass. Then again, it's time for Godfrey to start making plays period.

Not trying to be argumentative but the defense kind of fell apart around the 9th game of the season just after the break last year. Of course, it could be that's when they got hurt and if so, that would give me some hope.

Both Atlanta and the Cowboys have top 10 run offenses which compounds our already poor run defense. Plus if teams see us have success against the pass, they will run more. In the end the worst statistic is points allowed. And in that we are 30th. A much more telling and problematic number than rushing yards.

To look at it a little more positively, I think we'd be ranked around 20th in PPG allowed if you subtract the defense or ST touchdowns off our total.

14 from Philly.

8 from Dallas if you count the 2 point conversion.

That brings our D from giving up 29 a game to under 22. I'm doing my best to remain positive.

Although it's depressing our heralded offense has scored 37 points this year, and defense/ST has scored 22 on us.:banghead:

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
