Hurney "isn't sure" he's only interim

His acknowledgement of it is.

It tells me that at the very least he's open to the possibility if Richardson wants it, and we know Richardson nearly always makes the wrong decision on these things.

If you wanna read more into it, then it's possible to believe the decision is already made and Marty is just being discreet.

The thing to watch will be if there's an actual GM search or they just go through the motions.

His acknowledgement that he doesn't know isn't news.

Yeah, fans should be happy about rehiring a GM that was fired not long ago for incompetence.

The harsh reality is we both know it's just a title. At the end of the day JR pulls the strings. Guys just do what they're told.

Doesn't matter how fans are happy.

Doesn't matter if we win championships, or even most of our games.

Only matters that everybody who talks to Richardson feels good.

We know that when Hurney is around. Gettleman was not a yes man.

I don't think Gettleman was a yes man in the literal definition. But I think the CMC pick for example was not a Gettleman move. I think the KB, Shaq, and CMC picks were all made with heavy input from the top man. We know after 2010 that JR has no quarrels with meddling when he wants to.

All the behind the scenes stories we've had say different.

Everybody as in everybody.

Richardson cares more about good feelings than winning.

Richardson is a business man first. If the lockout didn't show you that, I don't know what will.

Have you not stopped to think why it is that all the sudden out of the blue almost five years into Gettleman's job that players can allegedly get our GM fired because they are disgruntled about contract negotiations? There were no issues reported with this when it was time to negotiate Cam, and Luke's contracts. Even KK got his contract ironed out with little more than brief camp holdout rumors.

Did JR simply go batshit insane one day after forgetting to take his pills, or were there issues building behind the scenes that we never heard about? We already know Brandon Beane was the man who cooled things down between Gettleman, and personnel all along.

So what changed so dramatically that quickly?
