Panthers currently sitting at $15.6m CAP

The wild week of NFL team cuts down to 53 is upon us.  While i think the core of players we have (first and maybe second string) is good enough to make a playoff run, my concern is depth and inexperience for the 2s and 3s.  We have some of the best talent at each position minus maybe 1-2.  With the week of teams cutting their teams down to 53 by this weekend.  Project who will be the notable names cut from the Panthers, other teams, and who you would like to target for signings or wishful thinking trades.   We have a very talented roster but with age and some contracts not on our side, i believe the time to make necessary moves to win this year is now.

***IMO***

Notable Cuts:

RB Fozzy (its time for CAP to take his spot, CAP only helped his case this preseason, and with Fozzy's return game help declining, its time)

WR Bersin (we simply have too much talent Sheppard, Samuel, Byrd to fill this spot with a homeboy discount player)

LB Ben Jacobs (serviceable special teams player whos spot should got Armah.  Mayo and Norris have come into their own & Boulware needs a chance)

G Chris Scott (serviceable when healthy, but hardly healthy consistently)

DT Kyle Love (time to let Eric Crume eat, cheaper and younger)

Potential Signings from projected Cuts:

T Cyrus Kouandjio (PFF #34th rated Tackle)

S Barraci Rambo

WR Jermaine Kearse (sources say potential cut)

again, just my 2 cents.

Agree with most of those cuts, although as a great a story as he is, Boulware has done nothing to earn a chance. He is just not going to make this team, probably not even the practice squad.

Bacarri Rambo would not be any improvement over what we have, and costs way to much.

Fozzy - Agree. CAP is better.

Bersin - Agree.  Clay has a higher ceiling IF we keep 6. Also, Duke on PS becomes our new hometown hero.

Jacobs - Agree, but Boulware won't even make PS. I love the guy's drive, but he's not good enough (that I've seen).

Scott - Disagree. Unless he's hurt, I think he's a keeper. He knows the system, can play both guard spots and center in a pinch.

Love - Disagree. Love's pretty darned good as depth. Crume has a ton  (awful pun intended) of potential, so I think that we keep both. https://theriotreport.com/why-kyle-loves-injury-matters/
