Rivera: CAP to start replacing CMC on passing downs

Lmao

Coach Ron Rivera indicated RB Cameron Artis-Payne could see snaps on passing downs in relief of Christian McCaffrey.

Rivera mentioned it's "concerning" that McCaffrey is playing on so many passing downs as a blocker due to his smaller build. Artis-Payne has been a career backup, making it unlikely he takes more than a few snaps away from McCaffrey.

Translation: first round undersized punt returner is already breaking down.

Read the fugging quote you idiots, not the headline.

McCaffery is being asked to block too much. CAP might be put in every now and then because he’s a better blocker.

That’s all he fugging said.

CAP isn’t being asked to catch.

McCaffery isn’t being benched.

There's an idiot here alright, but it's you.

When you bring in CAP on an obvious passing down you're basically telling the D that they can disregard the RB as a potential receiver.

What Rivera is saying here is either

a.) CMC is already starting to break down which is to be expected because of how small he is

or

b.) the panthers lose more from his blocking than they gain from his receiving

must be difficult for the CMC apologists. probably gonna have to fire up a bunch of college hype videos to make themselves feel better.

He definitely hasn't been as dynamic with the ball in his hands as we hoped for. He's a very good receiver, but he's not making anything happen after the catch.

A lot of talent evaluators thought his best NFL position was as a slot WR and so far I'd say their analysis is looking pretty spot on.

Here's a thought, maybe put CMC at WR on passing downs?
