Deangelo 18 carries

JStew 10 carries

Hoover 1 carry

only 79 yards but I don't care. I have been saying this along with many others on here that we need to be running the ball ATLEAST 25 times to have a chance to win.

It wasn't pretty but we won. I think this shows that if we try to establish the run it is more effective than just abandoning it outright.

also, has anyone notice that if one of our RB's starts to warm up the other one seems to follow suit? Like I said they eren't lights out but they both started running much harder. And when JStew started getting yards, DWill started working harder for that extra yard.

I'll take this win

Indeed. This team is entirely built around the running game and there's heavy investment in it. We might as well live and die by the run at this point.

the defenses this season are better than last's.

that's the difference.

everybody including me said the schedule doesn't mean crap...it does and until we beat a good offensive team this year a win doesnt mean squat. Im not complaining but I am just a little disappointed.

But, if you compare us to last years team after four games, the numbers are similar. It was later in the season that our run game caught fire. For the first four games last year, the passing game and defense carried us. This year, the passing game and defense haven't carried anything until today.

People forget that DeAngelo looked to be far from the premier back we know him as now and it looked like Stewart was closing in on the starting job until about week six. Good point.

And this is also the reason DWill didn't make the Probowl. I believe voting was over by the time he racked up so many stats

Not really. Philly is the only team that has a high ranked D so far. That doesn't mean much at this point in the season but this offense has been pretty damn bad overall. ST and D is really what picked up today. The offense looked better but that's because we stuck to the run.

Kenny Moore's return really helped on that scoring drive. Playing with a shorter field paid off

this season's ranking is irrelevant.

compared to last season, so far atlanta's defense is the only one carolina has faced that is suspect. it's also the only defense that carolina has been able to rush for over 100 yards against.

unlike last season's first 4 games where deangelo and stewart averaged almost 100 yards and 1 td per game. minnesota was the only team to hold them to under 100 yards.

last season thru 4 games = 3 games for 100 yards

this season thru 4 games = 1 game for 100 yards

the defenses are the difference.

    • it helps that Bryce and Tmac worked out a bit this off-season before the draft and are familiar with each other's game from way back.  Sure Bryce put in a good word for him to the coaching crew ahead of time That california connection goin' work, I hope
    • Sign but make it mostly incentive driven contract
    • My biggest problem is I think the players he likes don't really work in the modern NFL.  You mentioned the wr room being a lot better, is it?  It has the potential to be.   Last year when we traded up to get Legette, they said they traded up to take him specifically because he was a true X receiver.   Now this year they take TMac because they say he is and that XL was out of posisition last year.  Im not sold on Tmac yet just like I wasn't sold on XL last year.  If TMac isn't a lot better than last XL was last season then that's back to back first rounders in one position that would still need a huge amount of work.  Hopefully Tmac is what everyone seems to think he will be, I'm just not so sure, but them declaring XL was a true X receiver after the draft last year and what they're saying now should at least give you pause about their receivers evaluation because it means they definitely made a mistake one way or another.
