Samuel getting MRI and other pc notes

Mike Shula says Panthers will replace Curtis Samuel "by committee."

Mike Shula: After Curtis went down, we didn't feel like we missed a beat in terms of receivers knowing assignments, moving around etc

When asked who will start with Curtis Samuel out, Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula said it will be "by committee." That could include Russell Shepard, Kaelin Clay, Brenton Bersin and possibly Damiere Byrd when he's eligible to return from IR.

ha this a joke? Season is over because a single player who accounted for less than 150 total yards this season is out?

Yes and no.

I’m not a huge Samuel fan but if this means Shepard is going to be getting more targets then f*ck... might as well just throw the ball out of bounds

I don’t think Samuel is all that special but if this mean Shepard is going to be getting more targets than Christ... might as well just throw the ball out of bounds

I wouldn't be worried. With Olsen back and Dickson's recent performance, there will be enough to go around. Clay/byrd can run the 1 route for us.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. He'll come back, and be out two series later

So you already contradicted yourself, because you acknowledged he will be back.  The fact that you think you know more than Kalil and our training staff do is astounding.  You think he would continue to rehab and not go on IR if he thought he would immediately get hurt again?  Come on bud.  I get that you like to be a negative nancy, but at least have some credence behind what you're saying

Getting Byrd back will be HUGE.

He’s got the best hands out of all the WR’s and has the ability to get deep. We desperately need him to be ready to roll against the Saints

Larsen has been stellar

Agree.  For a guy who was an unknown a year ago, he's proven to be very capable depth.  Would I prefer Ryan to be playing, of course. But Larsen has done a good job, and seems to be getting better.

And Van Roten too... I didn't even realize that Larsen missed two series.  It was a really pleasant surprise today reading an article by Voth to discover that VR got his first-ever NFL snaps at center and realize that the transition was smooth enough that it wasn't even easily noticeable last night!

Our Center depth has proven quite decent, thankfully, as it's been needed!!

Such a shame about Samuel. Just when he was having a good game and beginning to really settle in....  Hope it's not season-ending.  We really need his speed.  But at least Byrd should be eligible soon, and also Clay is speedy.

I think we'll miss Samuel most on K/O returns.  I don't want to see CMC doing that.  Maybe Fozzy??

Byrd of course is almost totally unproven in terms of actual regular season games as a receiver.  But hopefully he'll show up and help us have a real deep threat.
