Why was that not deemed a successful onside recovery by Funchess?

ARTICLE 7. PLAYER POSSESSION

Item 1. Player in Possession. A player is in possession when he is inbounds and has a firm grip and control of the ball with his hands or arms.

Elbow down: Check

Both hands on ball: Check

No part of body touching out of bounds: Check

Right after this he hits out of bounds.  That's when the play ends, the toss doesn't matter.  It is a possession recovery by Devin Funchess.

He had the ball in his hands before falling out of bounds.  He was clearly in possession since he was able to toss it to Jacobs.  And, the fact that it was even close should side with the call on the field.  NFL is so scripted.

He didn't have possession of the ball, he pushed the ball back in (or tried to) but I would imagine that it doesn't count as possessing the ball itself

No, he didn't.  He had both his hands on the ball securely and then flipped it up to Jacobs.  He clearly had possession before hitting the out of bounds line.

Starting early with the excuses lol

hey. what excuses do you have for jumping the panthers and crawling back over to the saints lmao.

reminder when the saints were 0-2 this kid had himself a panthers logo and was a sudden panthers fan.

You're an idiot, learn the rules. He never establishes possession in bonds, furthermore, the toss to Jacobs was after he landed out of bounds.

fug you're a retarded fug.

    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
    • At least we have Mike Kay and his little buddy sidekick whoever to put you to sleep when suffering from insomnia. They're all useless unfortunately.
