Apparently the movie bombed so bad in China after 3 weeks they pulled it. Doing much worse than they ever expected. Only 50 million in China. For comparison TFA did 124 million in China. 

 

Wonder why the Chinese audience doesn’t like the film?

I just watched The Last Jedi: Defeminized version, a fan edit, and it was 100x better than the actual movie.  Very impressed.  It flowed properly and felt more like a star wars movie.  Props to the creator.

Disney doesn’t really care about the audience scores. They made a poo ton off the movie and no matter how bad this one did the same people will still show up to watch episode 9.

 

the real problem is that in a rush to give us a Star Wars film every year they gave us a shitty Star Wars film that was probably the least Star Wars film ever made. 

Instead of giving rian Johnson time to see how the audience reacted to things JJ set up with his movie and how invested they were in those certain story lines he wrote his movie based only on JJ’s script. That has fail written all over it.

to be fair they brought in Rian Johnson in specifically to do his own thing yet keep him under the control of the producers. This is more of a Kershner/Lucas vibe than a Marquand/Lucas vibe.

I am glad they are not making movies based solely on audience feedback personally. Everyone has a little different vision of what they want, and really, there's not a lot of fun going and seeing what you thought should happen happen. Just look at Star Trek - for STII they brought in a guy who never saw TOS, and he ended up saving the franchise. STIII and IV allowed the Trek story line to change utterly - instead of a ship of the Federation with a mission, it had the characters against everyone, destroying the Enterprise and riding on a Klingon ship. And it worked. Of course then you have to deal with the Shatner movie LOL so it doesn't always work out....

It’s not even going on just what the audience wants it to be. It’s about not shitting on the person who brought you to the dance in the first place. The fans are what made Star Wars what it is. Thinking you can make a fundamentally flawed movie and think the whole fandom will love it is stupid. Especially that it’s Star Wars were it is literally people’s child hoods.  When you have people thinking the prequels are better than this movie you know it’s bad.

i don't mind the passion, I definitely have it myself. 

But to say something like

Well thats just silly. Anyone saying that is off their rocker. There are no elements in the prequels that match or exceed the new movies that I can think of other than some of the action scenes are much more frenetic than in the newer movies - but again thats because these movies are trying to be a little more in tune with the originals.

They turned Darth Vader, one of the coolest villains ever, into a love stricken emo whiny teenager. 

Obi-Wan was the only saving grace of the prequels. 

The clone wars cartoon show shits on those movies
