This place is unbelievable. During the off season I said 100% we wouldn't bring Ginn back because Byrd will fill that roll and everybody on this site talked poo and acted like I didn't know what i was looking at... Now you guys want him starting opposite Funchess lol Byrd has all the talent in the world but lacks ideal size, but there's something special about him. I don't think he's an every down WR, but he belongs in the offense as much as possible. Dude can fly, has great concentration, and can take any short route the distance.  Defenses HAVE to respect him amd his ability, then add in the fact that Cam is finally getting game reps with him... Just dangerous

You did say that and I was one of those who said Byrd wasn't going to make it. You were way right and I was way wrong. Here's hoping the young man keeps scoring the TDs and makes a permanent place for himself as a starting receiver.

Good job by him and for you sticking by him.

FWIW, Eugene Robinson  (radio crew) was saying Byrd has been clocked at 4.28 (40). Amazing. Additionally his vertical leaping ability is incredible.

That was on grass to btw! So subtract .13 from that :shades:

Dude has jets. Everyone in the huddle needs to review the 2nd TD he had. Those legs man be like

And that was on grass, not turf haha dude has the ability to take the top off if any defense, we just need to get him involved with the deep ball

Byrd is in a prime position to make some waves on the offense, with all the attention being drawn by CMC, Funchess, and Olsen/Dickson. He's built to slip through defenses unnoticed while they still have their eyes in the backfield on Cam. He has a huge opportunity here and I really hope he can make the most of it.

I love the attitude and energy Byrd has. His blocking is really good for his size to. I was definitely impressed with him since last year. This is his opportunity to make a name for himself and keep building off all the hardwork the last 3 yrs.

Shepard seems to be in on a lot of run plays...sometimes even as the only WR. Is his run blocking that good? For anyone who has watched him?

I haven't paid that much attention honestly, but I have noticed him blocking downfield pretty well. He helped Cam get some extra yards on his big run against the Vikes.

The way he tracks the ball and how he aggressively goes after it in the air... Are amazing, and add that to his crazy speed? He's got a bright future if used right. He has stamina for days but will suffer on durability cuz of his size.. send him deep but as a decoy while the bigger names work underneath, defense forgets for 1 play that Byrd is as dangerous as any deep threat in the league and they pay for it. Re watch the pre season games... Not one single corner, safety or... god forbid...linebacker could run with him...

Can confirm, poo’d on you for sure. As a Gamecock it blows my mind he scored two touchdowns in the NFL in a single game. I’ll get that crow now.

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
