All right veterans are going to start retiring, players contracts are going to start being renegotiated and the front office is going to start to turn over

Who from the front office here did Gettleman replace?

Heck, most of the people that are in place there now are people that he was working with before. If he didn't fire anybody here, why would he fire them?

And let's be real, the Giants have a way more proven, organized and tenured personnel system than we do. Up till this year, our Pro Personnel chief was a guy who worked his way up from the ticket office.

(the kind of promotions only Jerry Richardson would do)

Can't make a full judgement on CMC after only one rookie season. But even the biggest homer can't just be satisfied with their franchise QB shouldering the run game after drafting an offensive weapon 8th overall. Do I actually have to explain this?

As far as this season. Which is what I have been referring to. Signing Matt Kalil to that contract when other options were available is just ugly. On top of that cutting Ginn would have been a lesser loss if he hadn't tried to replace him with a couple of jags that would be lucky to make a CFL roster. We are limited on offense this season and Gettleman unequivocally shares blame for that.

"Do I have to explain this?"  - No, you don't have to explain anything.  But apparently you have to be a dick.

You keep harping on the run game and whining that Cam is leading the team.  He's running about 8-9 times a game, which is what he did in 2015 and prior.  But his yards per carry is way up thanks to a couple very long runs.  He's only 15 yards ahead of stewie, so who knows if he'll remain ahead but who the hell cares.  Who thought CMC was going to come in at 200 lbs and run the ball 25 times a game.  That would be a waste and the guy probably would not have made it to midseason.  CMC is good in space and spreads the field, making it easier for Cam to run.  Win win.

And Ginn was replaced with our second round pick - Samuel.  He got hurt.  That does not mean Gettleman did not try to replace Ginn.  It means Samuel got hurt.  Gman also signed Byrd and cultivated him on the practice squad in case Samuel got hurt.  Unfortunately he got hurt too.

Finally the Matt Kalil thing.  I've said before this did not feel very Gettlemanly but more Richardsonly.  No clue who pushed the signing, but the contract is not terrible.  We are not paying him much his first two years (salary cap wise).  If he works out, he's a bargain.  If he doesn't work out, we have to eat some salary but its actually pretty manageable.

Gettleman is not even on the market for an entire season and gets hired.  Hurney was on the market for years and not even a sniff of interest.  Ask yourselves why..I’ll say it again, Jerry fired the best thing that happened to this franchise in its entire existence.  Can’t wait till this team is sold to an owner that cares about winning.

Jerry fired Cam?

Ill be watching the Giants with interest. Gettleman is an old dude. He won't have a franchise QB and top shelf linebacker. His best player is Odell Beckham who needs a new contract. If he can get them competitive in 2 years, it will be a miracle.

Technically he'll have an over the hill franchise QB.

Oh, we've totally recovered all right.  Our WRs and DBs are the highlights of our position groups.

So you think Smith should STILL be on the team?  and Norman?

If Norman is still around, maybe we don't get Bradberry.  Here's a quick comparison of the 2 as of right now:

Norman.  30 yrs old.  2017 numbers = 58 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 interceptions, and a cap hit of 20.0 million.

Bradberry.  24 yrs old. 2017 numbers = 80 tackles, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, and a cap hit of 0.9 million.

I'll take the second guy.

It’s hard to compare corners based on those stats.  What about catch %?  PBU’s?

Tackles usually indicate the corner allowed the receiver to make a catch. Less tackles is not always a bad thing.

nobody said Smith would still be on the team but if he hadn't have got rid of him there is a good chance old Dave would still be on the team...

    • yeah, but the actual jersey Bryce Young is wearing is not the same jersey you are buying from Fanatics.
    • i just feel like i read this he says she says poo all the time over & over again  on the internet  TV  work ,in public & then i think back to myself oh what a sick slandermongering world we live in now. ts just like those National Enquirer magazines you find in the grocery store at the checkout counter which are nothing more than complete & utter BS  & more often than not when you assume something then you make an ASS out of U & ME. so chill &  let the courts do their job & if he is guilty well he is guilty  LOL either or this has nothing at all whatsoever to do with Carolina Panthers football
    • Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role. With the 6-foot-4 All-American likely to take on the bulk of the volume from Young, Legette should have some cleaner shots to break out downfield and in the box score.     https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/06/panthers-wr-xaiver-legette-top-breakout-candidates-2025/83475176007/?taid=681a4610ede05d000149b376&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
