Without Turner available Mike Shula was clearly afraid to run the ball between the tackles, over right guard. Without Stewart, Shula was afraid to run between the tackles on first down.

Without Turner, the Falcons got the more interior pressure against the Panthers than any team i have seen this season. Witbout Turner, Shula ran the ball less between the tackles than I have ever seen.

Without Turner we lost. For those of us who thought Silotulu was improved; we were wrong. We were dead wrong. He is who we all knew he was a few years ago and he simply doesn't have the ability to step in as quality depth against an above average interior lineman like Grady Jarrett.

This week we will have Stewart, Trai, and Coleman back, along with 8 full quarters of tape showing what doesn't work against the Saints. It's time for Rivera and Company to come up with a game plan that at least makes the Panthers competitive against the Saints, lest the season be lost and the focus of the team will no longer be distracted from the impending sale of the franchise they all work for.

Amini sucks but Moton is a tackle, not a guard. And a rookie at that. He may need time, just like Daryl did, who's now balling out in his third year. Stupid to assume he'd be better than Amini without seeing him in practice.

He was the best o linemen all pre season. Everytime he has played he has flashed. Amini was also a second round pick that was cut for a reason and hasnt showed anything to change that. Plus amini has played tackle and guard so moton can definitely fill in. Amini was getting tossed on his ass yesterday.

There was a game plan. We just don't have the speed on the outside to get separation from a defense as fast as Atlanta's. With Byrd, Stewart, and Turner we would've seen a completely different offensive game plan yesterday.

The coaches ultimately weren't as concerned with winning as they knew using Stewart without Turner would be pointless. They played to play, not to win. I suspect we will see more ball control style offense and traditional power runs against the Saints this week. Our slow was receivers need play action to get separation.

Amini was hot garbage the first go around when Hurney drafted him.

Then suddenly when it was Gettleman who decided to bring him back, the huddle acted as if he was good. He's never been good. It's been the same dumpster diving bullshit DG pulled with the OL all along. From Nate Chandler, to Mike Remmers, to Amini, and then Gettleman panicked and threw a kings ransom at Matt Kalil. We haven't been able to establish anything consistent since Gross retired. That is simply inexcusable.

Oher was good until he seemingly sustained an injury worse than a concussion. Left tackles uses to be a dime a dozen, now they are nearly impossible to find given the climate of college football.

Regardless, Silotolu, I suspect, will be graded as one of the worst guards of the day into the NFL yesterday. Someone with PFF can confirm or refute this.

      And, honestly, there's only so much you can attempt to do in the draft. And every draft pick is a roll of the dice. But that's where grabbing a ton of UDFAs, and targeting the best, makes a big difference. Sure, their individual chances of getting a hit here is less, but that shotgun pattern might just hit something.  Right now, we need bulk, partly to rebuild and partly to dilute the deep level of stank that has developed on this team in the last six years. If we're going to rebuild a culture built around culture, accountability and winning, then these UDFAs we bring in each season have to be the wash water that gets out that leftover dirt.  Canales seems to be a smart, culture-first, build up the good ones kind of guy. I like that and I hope he can keep it going here. But he was working against a locker room that had been taught to lose and taught to distrust or ignore coaches. He's got his work cut out for him, still. He does seem to have it moving in the right direction and that's something I was pretty amazed with by the end of last season.
