A little historical quirk (Re: Shula)

What about the fact that Minny has more talent on Offense than we do?

Who should do more? The team with talent around a pretty good QB? Or the team that has a really good QB, but much less talent?

It appears that the teams match up rather well Offensively. So if Shumar is a good OC? (As @Mr. Scot has purposed.) Does it not stand to reason, that Shula just may be as well?

I don't think that Minny has more talent on offense.  Now with our injuries this year that can be debated...but both squads healthy...I'll take our O over theirs all day.

I would prefer a better OC on our part though.

According to the Huddlez. Outside of Funch, we have no WRs. And for our RBs, Stewy is done, and CmC is a Slot guy. So not many would seem to agree that we have comparable talent.

IMO, WR issues bit our Offense once again. Give this Offense a reliable WR corp., and then see what we have. I don't like making changes until you put your best foot forward. Otherwise, again, IMO, you are making those changes in reaction mode. And I hate seeing folks do that.

Bring in a quality Vet WR to team with Funch. Throw in Samuel, and Byrd. Then maybe you could fairly evaluate the situation. I just don't believe it is fair to evaluate a problem, when the problem has a problem.

tl/dr version; IMO, Cam, and Shula have had an average Offense. With below average talent. Give them some actual talent. Then reevaluate. If they still struggle, well dang. But if they actually succeed? Yaaahooo.

To be honest though, one of these offenses has Cam Newton at the helm...the other has Case Keenum...you should be able to do more with this offense than the Vikes can do with theirs.

If Cam is on like he was on Sunday I  agree, but when Cam is off he is awful and no amount of coaching can fix it sometimes it appears.

Look, I understand criticizing Shula last year but how the hell are you making him the scape goat right now?  He drew up a damn good game plan imo.  He was able to put up 400+ yards in the Dome with Cam, CMC, Stewart and an island of misfit toys. We should have scored more than 26 points, Cam missed a wide open CMC for 6 early and Funchess couldn't locate what could have been the winning TD.  Gano also left off 3 more. I think Shula was actually pretty solid all year considering the injuries he was dealt with.

If there's a coordinator that we should be criticizing right now, it's Wilks.  Stop bringing up Shula.  He was prepared to win today, Wilks wasn't.

Can’t figure out why he doesn’t get any interviews... maybe you could explain

Some of y’all don’t make sense...

im for certain the reason we don’t run a 2min offense other than when needed is because of ron, not shula, also bitching about having funchess on the sideline, and in the same breath bitching about him being in the game on a play where it seens his effort was lackluster is hypocritical.

defense and the teams overall conservativness is a bigger issue than our oc.

We use the 2 minute offense to change tempo, get Newton in rhythm or to keep New Orleans from substituting. None of these things were an issue. We moved the ball, ran up and down the field and struggled in the redzone. Something the hurry up wouldn't have changed. Why do hurry up when you want to keep Brees off the field?  As for Funchess he did a great job trying to make plays when he was clearly hurt. I thought he was the least of our problems.

I agree. Look how much better we looked with Olsen back and finally at 100% imagine if we had Samuel and Byrd. This offense had less talent this year with all the injuries than we had last year and Cam wasn't even healthy for the first part of this year.

Looking at this team, there is a lot to like. Pair getting Samuel, and Byrd healthy, with a solid draft. And this team should be just as good, or better next year. Now add the right Vet FAs, and we can be really good.

Yeah I agree mostly but guys are complaining because we had cmc and olsen block on a play, funchess and olsen on the sideline, these are two plays put of what ? 40-50 the nitpicking is annoying. I’m more concerned with a defense that can only pick on subpar qb’s

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
