Putting Cam under center in the Air Croyell will be the greatest blunder in the history of coaching hires.

Chud was like Norvs mini me— and Cam did awesome. Our running backs averaged over 5 yards per carry, Cam threw for 4000+, and our offense had over 50 touchdowns.

It’s been 6 seasons since then and 5 since chud, Cams grown a lot, grown up a lot, and I believe he will do great.

Im not worried about Cam— I am though about getting 2 good wide receivers in there that are better than Funchess.

that will bring our running game back.

Refresh my memory... I don't remember many 7 or 5 step drops during that season. Also, don't recall Norm having a QB that rushed for nearly a thousand yards in his career.

See my other post...Cam was under center quite a bit his rookie season, with several 5-7 step drops.

Cams highest yardage total ever in his career came in his rookie year.  Hist highest yards per game average came in his rookie year.  His 2nd highest ever completion rate came in his rookie year.  His 2nd highest yards per completion came in his rookie year.  The longest TD pass of his career came in his rookie year.  His most 20+ yard completions came in his rookie year.

Do you see a trend here?  Cam Newton excelled, as a rookie, with only 1 year of major college experience, during a shortened offseason, under Chud's Air Coryell system.  To post career numbers in year 1 and basically regress for the next 6 is astounding.  Cam is about to take off once again under Norv.

Okay, not saying any more. Keep thinking positive thoughts. I'm oo record as saying I do not like the hire. To be honest, it seems like a management hire to me, i.e. the new owners are lined up and they want a guy to come in and evaluate the franchise.

Ron has always wanted Norv

Maybe. But this smells like NFL positioning for pricing the organization before the deal. Norv is an experienced NFL personnel guy and will come in evaluate the organization. Furthermore, I don't Richardson would ever make this hire. You'll never convince me the Panthers are kicking off the tires of this guy and seriously expecting to make a Super Bowl run.  Maybe it will happen, but I think not.

Huddle always amazes

Overall take has been - I'd rather have a literal rock instead of Shula.   Sure do miss Chud.

So then the scenario pops up that we could get the dude who Chud literally copied and ripped off and people are like ...nah.

The numbers I've found have Cam with 354 attempts from shotgun to 134 under center his rookie year. He did everything better from shotgun, completion %, TD/int ratio, yards per attempt. He also ran twice as many times from shotgun that year as from under center.

Snap splits are at the very bottom.

lol.  Cam is made for the Air Coryell, with tweaks to maximize his skills.  He has a strong arm, great pocket awareness, and great accuracy on deep balls.  In addition, Cam is at his best on 7 step drops, which he will be doing a lot of in this system.  Look back at Cam's rookie season.  You tube videos will show just how many of his highlight throws came from when he was under center.  It appears to me that when Cam is under center and drops back 5-7 yards, he plants his foot to stop his drop and tends to step into the throw, illustrating better mechanics.  In the shotgun he stands there and receives the snap, maybe shuffles backwards a step or two, then throws off his back foot.  IMO, the Air Coryell better suits Cam.  If we add speedy, above average receivers, this offense could be special once again like it was in 2011.

Theres something about the motion of the drop back that puts everything in its place ...How many times in the gun does Cam just stand there ...its like you want him to take a step just to set himself...or at least bounce up and down in his toes...he needs a little waggle...

we made a Super Bowl run  with freaking Shula.  Norv is a clear upgrade....and the dude Rivera has long wanted.

we went to the postseason almost every single season with Shula.  But upgrading him now we won't compete?

I don't get that logic bro

Exactly.  Cam is an athletic QB who plays better on the move.  The motion of the drop back in and by itself seems to help him tremendously.  Shula was just too stupid to see it.

That was literally Cam's introduction to playing under C.

In his sophomore year, his best numbers were under C.....not shotgun.

I'n not trying to be contrarian, but Cam is clearly worse than a lot of QB's in this league at escaping pressure from his left. He is fast, not quick.

Not trying to be funny,  but could the quality of LTs be the tie that binds?

They'll keep arguing even though anybody with a brain can see that Cam is clearly a much better out of the shotgun and especially with hurry up offense.
