We can’t go into next year with a Worley/Bradberry CB tandem

I agree.  Some are saying just wait as corners need 3 years to develop.  I'm not sure I'm there.

I'm not a fan of PFF as they don't account for the situation, but sometimes they confirm what we already knew.  PFF ratings:

Daryl Worley: 58.9 rating – No. 89 CB

Captain Munnerlyn: 48.3 rating – No. 100 CB

James Bradberry: 42.4 rating – No. 109 CB

Kevon Seymour: 41.9 rating – No. 110 safety

Mike Adams: 82.3 rating – No. 26 safety

Kurt Coleman: 47.0 rating – No. 76 safety

I would hesitate before I said Worely was much better than Bradberry.  I would agree that Adams had a pretty good year, even if he intercepted one too many.  I hesitate on Coleman he was battling an MCL injury this year and was awesome in 2015 with 7 interceptions.

This year Bradberry didn't look much better than Worely, but we did give him the tougher load.

We did blitz a lot this year, 50% of the time on 3rd down and 43% of the time overall.   This nearly double the 2016 rate.  But our defense was better in 2017, than 2016.  Was it the blitz, a healthier Kuechley, more experience at corner, or the addition Peppers and  Adams?  I guess we'll see.

Bradberry didn’t have a great year. But he has potential in coverage. A lot of times I would see Bradberry in good position he just wouldn’t get his head turned around. And that’s a problem he has to fix.

Worley on the other hand just didn’t anticipate WR routes or breaks. He would be completely fooled or caught off guard. Which leads me believe he needs to play safety where the plays are in front of him. Kudos to whoever had that idea. Never thought of it.

And in regards to Coleman, the one good year he had he was surrounded by talent. Norman shut down half the field and then he had Tillman and Finnegan who both played well. He’s just not that great. And what would drive me insane was when he was in position to make an interception, he had no vertical. The ball would sail right over him for a completion.

We have to be realistic about the division we play  in and the matchups

the other teams have evolved to beat the Panthers by be able to run and pass

we need to evolve to be able to answer either or at least put up a fight and stop somebody

with the current backfield, panthers can’t stop anyone if that front 4 fails to get to he qb

This is very true.  In the NFL the key is to prepare for your division in the offseason and your look for ways to win your division. The NFC South is probably to most dynamic division in football and all of teams did a good job of beating each other up except the Saints sweeping us. This should make our who entire fan base angry but the only way to get better is find a legit edge rusher and find a shutdown CB who can take players out the game.

I know Gettleman downplays 40 times and workouts in general, but damn if he didn't leave our WR corps and secondary nearly devoid of any speed. Our QB and starting LBs can outrun most of our WRs and DBs. Yeah, the QB and LBs have elite speed for their positions but that's still not good. At least Samuel can run, let's hope he's not made out of glass.

My dad calls them Badberry & Worseley, which makes me lol every time. But it's no longer true. Worseley is actually the better one now.

Gettleman was such an imbecile.

Pretty funny.  You've been forewarned, I may have to appropriate those (No disrespect to your pops).  I do disagree that Worley is better.  He is wildly inconsistent and I really saw basically zero growth. Bradberry appeared to regress,  but he is still more consistent at being somewhere around average (and,  yes,  some might say "average" is too generous).

Bradberry started good then ended up looking like crap . Worley looked better at times but Gunther looked like our best cb

We definitely gave Bradberry the harder role.  Following Julio Jones around is no easy task.  I think he could be a true #2.  We need to bring in a lock down corner though.

The safeties arevawful. They would be 3rd string on any other team

The stat of all 55 pass breakups, dead last in the league tells all that needs to be said

I didn't think Adams did that bad.  Coleman had a bad year, with injuries.  I'm cool with upgrading here, but I think corner is the higher priority.
