then I'm wrong ... But I still wouldn't have taken back that tag.. Gman waited so long  at that point you had no other FA option.. Then he did nothing else to fix other area of the team (oline).. So no he made a dumb move compounded by the fact he had no plan to fix it other than drafting a abnormal amount of rookie CB and throwing them in the fire.. I just can't call that smart..

It's irrelevant. Norman was offered the tag, his agent/cousin said "We gonna see what's out there", and signed with Washington. The franchise tag would have been unsigned anyway.

It was $13.95 M for one year. Cap space carries over year to year when you have extra. That money freed up was used directly for the front loading of KK’s contract.

Then why even tag him in the 1st place ... Or wait so long till the point you couldn't filled a competent secondary..

What??? No he couldn't have played any where else if he was still under the tag... He couldn't even negotiate with Washington at that time.. And his cousin was fired before the Washington deal...

Who cares what he did in the past? The fact is he is still a good CB. If he gets released he should be our main target because he is simply the most realistic and he probably wants to return home.

You guys arguing over the past is irrelevant. Julius Peppers left on bad terms, and we all welcomed him back with open arms. Norman is still in his prime, he could help this team a lot. Not to mention the swagger he brings. We will be talked about in the Nat'l media with Norman on our defense.

Well theoretically to buy time in negotiations for a long term deal. But apparently it later became clear to DG that the two sides would never reach an agreement on a long term deal and he should go seek it elsewhere. Which is what happened.

Pretty sure we placed the non exclusive tag on him meaning that he could've negotiated with other teams and signed with them if they were willing to give up 2 first rounders.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
