Hurts me

i was so stoked when we got him. One of my favorite players.

And i know his worth to our defense which is a lot...

but considering our depth at that position and our limited $$$ rescources, its a parting we should take

plus Butler has a ton of potential to be really, really fuging good

Kinda the same.  I REALLY wanted Star that season...if for no other reason than we hadn't had a good DT since Jenkins.

Him missing from this D will cause Luke some issues next season, but I think that we can overcome, and I think that we can't afford to pay him.

And I've never really understood the "doesn't like East Coast" guys here.  Has he ever said that?  Or is everyone assuming?  He just seems like a quiet married NFL football player to me.

It seems that those declaring how huge of a loss it will be to see Star walk are missing the big picture. If he is such a crucial piece of the puzzle, we had him on a reasonable rookie contract, why didn't we do a better job of consistently surrounding him with adequate pass rush help along the DL? Or in the secondary? To top that off, we signed KK to a huge extension after drafting Butler in the first round only to watch him ride the pine. The responsibility for this predicament we find ourselves in falls on one person.

After he was drafted, you could tell how bummed he was to be going to Charlotte and in his interview he said something to the effect of, "Well, I guess I'll be there for a few years." Having grown up on the east coast and lived in the west for over a decade now, there's just a totally different vibe to everything. It's easy to understand how someone who grew up in the west wouldn't like the east and vice versa. I'll likely be heading back to NC myself within the next 3-5 years or so. Love CO and it's been fun, but it's about time to come home.

Star is gone even if we offer him a deal.

why ?

we already have. the two parties were really far off on numbers. it's already been mentioned by a couple people here.

Panthers have made Star a decent offer, but he is waiting to see what someone else offers. Chances are he takes the money to play elsewhere. This is his first since he was a rookie and he needs to cash in.

Norwell is gone. Panthers will likely try their hand with Moton at LG.
