WOW. The Bears get him for the next 3-1/2 seasons, for about the same as we pay Peppers to show up for the next 3 GAMES.

HELL OF A DEAL for the Bears!

I don't quite understand the OP's perspective.

Not THAT much difference in their stats:

Adams: 10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defended

Peppers: 14 tackles, 3 sack, 0 fumble recovery, 2 pass defended

and Adams is limited with groin injury.

Are you freakin kidding me? That is one of the DUMBEST things I have ever heard. Lets look at Gaines Adams first two and a half years. He has 13.5 sacks on a team where ALL HE DOES is rush the passer.

In Pep's first 3 seasons he had 30 sacks while playing the run side of the DL and facing double-teams on a weekly basis. There isn't a team in the league that is sending a double-team at Gaines freakin Adams.

To me this shows that there were SERIOUS offers for Pep in the offseason and the FO just didn't want to budge because they knew how much he would mean to the D.

What are the Bucs doing? Just trashing everyone?

Gaines Adams was there only hope on the dline. Raheem is doing the best he can to destroy the house gruden created.

They said that he was an underachiever. They told him at the beginning of the year that he needed to get it in gear, and to this point, he had not. Sounds like they decided to get rid of him while they could.

It makes me think that if the Bears are willing to give up a second rounder for him, what could we get for Peppers?

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
