Todd McShay Mock Draft 3.0: Panthers pick Isiah Oliver CB

It baffles me that ESPN still has an "INsider" subscription plan. ESPN is garbage when it comes to understanding the true nuances of the big 4 sports. A bunch of talking heads, whose interns do the legwork. Who the hell is still paying for this trash with so many upstarts, knowledgable bloggers, and alternative free sites with way more informed writers.

After my "get off my lawn" rant..... I'm okay with Oliver at 24 depending on who else is available. I'm really warming up more to Jaire Alexander climbing boards if we decide to go CB in the first.  He may not be on a lot of people's radar at 24 now, but he is making the rounds in draft circles.

I'd love it. He and Josh Allen are the two surefire busts in this draft.

Yeah sure if they start right away.

Lamar Jackson with a year or two under Brees and Payton devolping him?

Please god no.

Yeah, I think the Manziel comparison is lazy. Manziel wasn't nearly as accurate as Mayfield.

I think Mayfield compares a lot to Locker. No where near the armstrength.

Problem with Locker is he was bought in to be the savior. No time to develop or really learn, and this is when CJ2K was starting to fall off.

I think Mayfield will be in trouble if he starts right away and the Browns take him #1 overall. I really think the Browns should go Barkley/Bradley Chubb at 1/4 but Barkley/Mayfield would also make sense. Barkley would take a lot off of Mayfield.

Doesn't concern me a bit. Sub-60% passers just don't work out in the NFL. Especially if they're in a system like the Saint's that emphasizes accuracy. He'd be a horrible fit in N.O. I'd love it!

In my last self-mock, I have Oliver in the first, C Daniels in the second.

He’s going to bust as a QB. So will Mayfield and Allen.

Don't laugh, but I would trade back (if I were Cleveland) with the 4th overall  pick and take Mason Rudolph.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
