Thanks for sharing your hate without warranted consideration.

Hate?  Show me where.

As for warranted consideration....here we go.

We are going to a Norv Turner style offense, where a staple is the RB being able to catch the ball out of the backfield...not just on 3rd down, but all downs.  AP has caught 14 passes over the past 3 years, and has never been very good at it at all.

Not to mention he is 32 years old, about to turn 33.

AP is not the answer to our running back situation, and I'm not convinced that we have said "situation" in the first place.

AP’s Role would be to fill the void left by stews absense. A hammer to rush between the tackles which we surely lack at present time. I don’t care about his ability to catch passes that’s exactly the role we have CMC for. The point of signing someone like this is to go into the draft and not be forced to pick anything and take the best player available. Fill as many holes as you can before the draft and let the draft come to you.

Turner himself has said he wants another serious bruiser so why would would this be the worst idea you can think of? 33 years old yet still was able to rush for 130 and 160 yards on a Arizona team without a quarterback and offensive line. We are talking about a 33 year old hall of famer and I will take AP’s 33 years old vs any normal persons because not all people age at the same rate. Peterson is clearly of a high caliber. I’m not saying sign him for 4-5 years but a 1-2 year deal until we for sure have the answer isn’t the worst idea.

If we dont get RB we want in the draft then he could be a cheap alternative.

I think you do exactly what Gettleman is doing with the Giants. Even though there is a great chance your going to get at worse Barkley, he grabbed Stewart to be his floor who looks a lot like AP at this stage of there career. That way you have a plan in place incase  something in the draft doesn’t go as planned like a trade down or something you didn’t foresee. It allows you a contingency plan and allows you to go true BPA.

I don’t understand the huddles obsession with cap. He is just a jag. He doesn’t have any dynamic traits. He’s not fast he’s not powerful he’s just a north south runner. He’s about 210 pounds not really a thumper.. I would rather see him not on the roster come the start of the season.

He can be upgraded apon. My whole point  was to fill a need and save a draft pick to fill other needs. I think a stopgap would be good. Ap is that. Now I’m not saying don’t draft a rb, but I would like to plug as many holes as I can before the draft so I’m not forced to draft a rb.

Each time Cap touched the ball he did something positive more than he did negative. That's why, because people were getting tired of Mccaffery working his ass off and Stew being a bit past his prime.

But what does he offer that you can’t get in a better player? He doesn’t win anywhere. He isn’t strong he isn’t fast, the best thing you can say about him is he runs straight ahead... I don’t know he shows decent field vision hitting the holes? He doesn’t have the quickness of cmc or power of stew so what makes him worth giving more carries or touches to? Where does he win?

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
