Gettleman didn’t draft well, no remarkable FA signings. Only thing he has is team records, but many things contributed to that.

"He wasn't that great.  The only thing he had going for him is that we won more games with him in charge."

His win pattern was quite similar to the team's history...

Really? Because the team Gettleman took over had one winning season in its past 7 years. ONE. No playoff victories and one playoff appearance.

Where as Gettleman’s teams went 51-28-1 with 3 winning seasons, 4 playoff appearances, and 3 playoff victories. All with a team that was severely handicapped by the previous GMs abuse of the salary cap.

I know it’s not proper etiquette to use facts and results to evaluate performance on here. But calling Hurneys time here even close to as successful as Gettleman was, is comical and completely agenda driven.

Yes really...still no back to back winning seasons and tge furst years eerily similar with trend very similar as the magic was obviously fading into panic...

And damn sure no back to back losing seasons. Like the 3 in a row that he took over and matched the 1/7 in his first year. And beat it his 3rd. And managed a playoff victory in a season that is considered bad in general.

There’s a big difference between winning 11+ every other season, and having one winning season in 7 years. Botha are covered under your blanket fallback crutch log “no back to back winning seasons” but are vastly different in the real world. Which is why one got a job quickly, and one had a radio show. Again, vastly different.

He wasn’t perfect, and I didn’t like much of anything he did post 2015. But comparing his accomplishments to Hurney isn’t even a close race.

You say this like we didn't go from 2 wins away from going undefeated and winning the Super Bowl to only mustering 6 wins the following season. How do you fall that hard that fast?

You guys need to raise the bar some.

Yep. Two wins away from undefeated, a season full of injuries and questionable decisions, and right back to 11+ wins. What about compares to 1 winning season in 7 years. Are you so jaded you would seriously rather have a organization that wins once every 7 years, or every other year? Those are the overall facts. Not cherry-picking certain moments from each ones career to further an agenda.

If only things were that simple. Yeah we won 11 games, and squeaked into a playoff berth by beating the Bucs in a game we basically won by an ass hair. But there's no way we get there without our QB risking his health putting up historic numbers as our leading rusher for the season. This after using a top ten draft pick on an offensive weapon.

But trending that way...we parted ways just in time...glad we didnt let it go too far again...

You can spin it any way you want. When you win 11 games, you make the playoffs, And that QB wasn’t close to healthy for half the season. Our Pro Bowl center and TE miss the majority of the season. All this, and still in position to win a road playoff game with no WRs(more injuries). Once again, cherry pick another moment and completely ignore the overall job.  Because as I said, there overall results are not comparable.

And rehired the one who we let it get “too far” with? That’s who you’re speaking of, correct?

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
