Who are your top targets at 24

IMO by the time we get to 24, the highest rated player on the board is going to be  a RB.  Especially if Barkley has been the only one taken.  Hurney has a history of back to back RBs in the first and two of our division rivals have reinvigorated their offenses with tantem backs.  Norv has a history of needing a true between the tackles RB and a choice between Guice, Michel, or Johnson will give him exactly what he wants.  None will be there in the second and I don’t see any evidence that CAP is that person.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned that this will be the case. Taking DWill and Stew in the 1st round only two years apart was a mistake, not something that we should look to repeat.

Is it? Funchess has had 3 seasons now and little competition for his place. Despite injury he had a big share of targets and made 800 yards. I know he was injured but can we really justify paying the going rates for WRs on his next contract? Ridley has a solid floor and as a first round pick would be cheap for 5 years.

Ridley's age is a slight knock for sure but he would still be tremendous value at #24. Guys like Funchess and Turner were just crazy young coming into the draft.

Might have too, it's that or keep drafting rookie wrs and hope they pan out for a franchise that's generally bad at drafting wrs(Horrible Plan). Ridley may have a solid floor but if it takes the normal 3 seasons for wrs to hit there stride were still in a predicament.

Ridley will turn 29 in the 5th year of his rookie contract looking to break the bank since at his age he'll only get one pay day. Which is going to give us another Josh Norman situation

Calvin Ridley and Devin Funchess are basically the same age. That's a real concern if it takes Ridley a while to get adjusted to the pro game.

Kawann was 24 when we drafted him.  I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

It’s likely a big part of the reason why he was available in the 2nd round.

DTs with nearly 20 sacks in a major conference are usually first round locks.

Can people stop panicking about Calvin Ridley's age? Hes going to be 23 to start the season and turn 24 in December. Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens were 22 entering the NFL and turned 23 during the season, thats the difference of just a years time.  Owens played 15 seasons and Rice played 21 season

You missed a few names. Chubb, Ronald Jones, and Rashad Penny all come to mind immediatel and personally I don’t think any of them or the ones you named will be BPA at 24.

I think we should be able to find a back in the 2nd or 3rd round.

One thing we agree on, is CAP can not be counted on!

Realistic wish list:

1) CB: Josh Jackson / Isaiah Oliver

2) OL: Hernandez / Wynn

3) DE: Harold Landry

4) S: Justin Reid

5) Pass catchers: Dallas Godhert, Christian Kirk

Any of the above and I'll be happy.

I would love to get Dallas Godhert. It just makes me think about Dallas Clark. It would be awesome if he could turn into that. Lol

Na he got buried by a strong class. He also was considered a boom or bust prospect pre draft. I remember Greg Cossell said something to the effect of on some plays he looked like the best DT in the class and on other plays he looked undraftable.

I think all of these are both a realistic possibility to be available and a fit for our team. For me:

 JJackson, DJMoore/Ridley, Reid, Daniels/Hernandez/Wynn.

I don’t know about Reid at 24 since safety is a deep position but obviously it’s a glaring need.

I really think we like Jessie Bates and you can get him in the third. Plus we don't waste a high pick on a safety because we don't value it as much. Plus looks like a couple guys will still be available after draft to pickup in FA.

It's not that big of a deal people keep freaking out about age and they know nothing about football. Your lucky to get 6-7 years out of someone with all the concussions and injuries. Nobody can tell me different so don't try.

He hardly ever came off the field at Purdue. He played a lot of snaps while basically exhausted.

If he was 21 or 22 he would’ve gone in the 1st.

Somewhat on topic with the thread but not warranting it's on... People aren't really talking Mike McGlinchey for us. But are we completely sure he's not an option?

We have Moton, who may get a look at Guard.  Daryl Williams is going into a contract year, and is about to command BIG money.  Would be nice if Marty locked him up this off-season. Matt Kalil could be a June 1st cut after next season (I think) and start saving us money...Over the Cap may or may not be right on that.

So conceivably, we might be in need of an OT after this year in a doomsday scenario, or at least a new LT in a couple years.  The big knock on McGlinchey is needing to add strength & size (he will do that), and that he looks better on the right.  With the above scenarios, we could need a new RT or LT for all we know.  So..why not McGlinchey?  Too much of a Vernon Butler type situation?
