Tepper contract to be finalized this week

Per Ian Rap the contract will be done this week, total purchase to be over 2b.

So I’m guessing that there will be no fines levied against JR for his conduct, wondering if Tepper will be dealing with anything the NFL might have planned for the Panthers organization itself.

If I was Tepper, I’d use the league asking me to up my bid as leverage to avoid any sanctions or fines detrimental to my franchise. I’ll assume we won’t feel any bad effects... also bet JR got something out of giving up the Tepper/money fight too... maybe not a full drop, but something.

Not so fast.....Today’s SCOTUS ruling legalizing state betting is said to possibly have a substantial positive effect on team value.  It would fiscally irresponsible for the sellers agent not to consider  this new info in its valuation.  If there has been no signature it aint a done deal.

That's been discussed. Doubt it has any effect on the sale going through.

The league is ready for Jerry Richardson to go away.

    • One of his handful of good games... If he can ever get to a consistently high level, then he'd change minds. As it is... Meh.
    • People are also jumping to the conclusion that Darnold would have figured it out here. I very much disagree. He needed a place where he could be a backup for a while with no pressure. So all the pining over him was pointless. Highly unlikely he would do anything but continue to fail had he stayed here. The one that got away was Baker. He was not as bad as he seemed here. He was always a good player but we were a two bit, middle of the road college program grasping at straws. Had we invested the time in Baker that we have done for Bryce, history would have been quite a bit different. To what end, who knows? Doesn't matter. There are a million hindsight stories that are very unkind to this franchise. There is no one that is more significant than the other. It is what it is.
    • He’s a serviceable starter for us that doesn’t cost much. The reason he doesn’t cost much is that he has flaws, one of which appears to be catching the ball.  It would be good to have a better corner opposite JC but he’s not at the top of the list when it comes to people we need to upgrade.
