Game of Thrones - Season 8

Also, new interesting theory readings of late suggest:

Something is significant about the Stark bloodline after all. The crypts under Winterfell hold the dead Kings of Winter (Starks) and the saying "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell" holds some significance.

Benjen never went full wight mode. He has Stark blood.

Jon died and came back. He has Stark and Targaryen blood.

In the crypts of Winterfell, where you see everyone hiding in the trailer (I think it looks like Jon and some others are even running into the entrance in one shot,) there are lots of dead Starks.

The Night King has the power to raise the dead.

What happens when he wakes up the dead Starks in the crypts? Or, can he?

I read a pretty wild theory about the dead Starks in the crypts, as well as their stone effigy's and stone direwolves, becoming reanimated to fight against The Night King. It would probably be pretty terrifying (see Arya running through the crypts with a dragonglass dagger in the trailer) if you were hiding down there if corpses starting crawling out of their caskets and statues came to life. But maybe they'd be on the good guys' side?

That would be fuging epic. Similar to the Hogwart's stone knights coming alive to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts. When I read that poo for the first time I lost it.

Also, this trailer made me think...

What if TNK wins the battle of Winterfell, and makes it to King's Landing, and if Cersei somehow sacrifices herself to defeat him.

Would Cersei be redeemed?

I kind of want Cersei to win the throne lol.     That would be typical GRRM.

While I'm exited for the final season and I'm sure it will be quite a spectacle, they really ruined the entire essence of the show in s7.

I can overlook the stupid timeline for Dany saving the guys north of the wall(or even the ridiculous reason they were there in the first place), I can look past the fake tension between Arya and Sansa(which no one bought anyway) just for the writers to say 'ha you were bamboozled!', I can overlook Jaime still supporting Cercei even after she did something that he killed a king he was sworn to protect over.

The biggest shocking moments of the series have come as a result of a simple principle - actions have consequences and it doesn't matter if you're a major character, you're going to suffer those consequences.  Ned being executed, the red wedding, Jon getting stabbed - all of these things reinforce that notion and make the story incredibly suspenseful as a result.

When Jamie charged Dany and narrowly survived my mind started racing with what could happen next.  With Jaime being captured what would Tyrion do?  Will he betray Dany and help him escape?(he kinda owes Jaime a jailbreak)  Will he convince Dany to keep him alive as leverage against Cercei?   Bronn's obviously going to have to die, how will Tyrion react?  Will he try to argue to save his life and thus drive a wedge between him and Dany?  Man, so many things are up in the air, I can't wait to watch the next episode.

Then Jaime somehow wakes up on the other side of the river.  Got a clean getaway.  His actions had no consequences, it was just there for a cheap thrill.   Way to rip the soul out of the show....

Sorry for the rant.

Bronn is arguably my favorite character along with Davos. But you're correct. One of them needed to die in that scene and since I believe Jaime will be the one to kill Cersei it should have been Bronn. Last season was cool but outside of the deaths of Olenna/Viserion it wasn't very "GOT" like. The manufactured tension leading to the death of Littlefinger even felt anticlimactic. The writing for the show just used to be smarter in my opinion.

Nobody care about the Sand Snakes or the Tarlys. They need to hit us where it hurts.

Bronn and Sandor are my favorite characters, but I agree with the sentiment that the whole "tackling him into a shallow river bank" thing was kind of dumb. I think I commented on it at the time something along the lines of Bronn and Jaime being secret mermen like Varys, lol. I mean really, did they just breath through a reed or something and wait for Dany to fly away, even though they were like 10 feet from her? LOL. Should have had them both boiled alive in the river with dragon fire.

But, I think plot armor protected them both at the time. Obviously.

Jaime is still a puzzle to me. Part of me thinks he's going to die fighting for the North. Part of me hopes he doesn't.

I haven't seen Bronn in any of the promotional stuff or the trailer as far as I can remember. I'm hoping they don't off him in some cheap way. Remember, Cersei called on Jaime to punish Bronn for setting up the meeting between him and Tyrion. But, then he somewhat acts on Cersei's behalf when escorting Tyrion and everyone to the Dragon Pit. There is a rumor that Cersei's baby is Bronn's, and I could totally see that being one of his goals, lol (knocking up the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.) Who knows... I just hope my dude makes it until the end.

He'll probably be on the throne lol.   Honestly, I keep thinking that Bran interfered with so much stuff to get people to certain places but maybe not.    Just watching the first season again, and how they find the dire wolf pops (and at least 3 of the kids are saved by them).    Maybe Jamie is needed.      This is the issue with time travel I guess.    The show probably changed a bit because they ran out of source material and then directors started doing director type stuff.

I was always secretly hoping that Bronn was the last surviving member of House Reyne. I realize we're way past that now but I feel like it would have been cool if this whole time Bronn was playing some kind of long con to regain his family's revenge. He started off as this mysterious enigma that was intelligent and obviously received some kind of proper education. We still don't really know where he came from but if he is in fact the last surviving member of House Reyne I don't think he wants his revenge anymore. Jaime/Tyrion aren't his meal ticket they're his friends.

Yeah I was going to bring this one up. It could still be true, I suppose. He could be some edge lord capable of stone facing his like of Tyrion/Jaime in order for him to be the one to swing the sword in the end.

It was seemingly random that he happened to be at the Inn of the Crossroads when Cat accused Tyrion. Then he joined the party as they headed to the Vale, and spoke up to champion Tyrion. Maybe it wasn't random. He's one of the best swordsmen in the realm, it seems.

I mean, we could go totally tinfoil and paint the picture of Bronn being anyone from the last Reyne, to Syrio Forel, to Howland Reed himself. Ultimately, it might just turn out that he's a dude that is good with a sword and in battles, etc. and he's legit trying to go to the highest bidder. I mean, really, if that is the case, you have to assume he's acquired enough at this point to almost rival Littlefinger himself, lol.

maybe

But I don't expect it to be Snow, Dany, Cersei or even Tyrion.  Think it will be some massive reset.  I think they all die.  I think the GRRM narrative at least makes it near certain all the perceived main good guys go down.   Maybe an extension of them (like a Stark sister) gets the throne but I think TNK has better odds than some probably.

I still think Bran is a going to be a central figure in a disappointing conclusion.   I have become a pessimist in terms of endings of TV shows.   Very few pull off a good conclusion.

Also, there's a pretty solid rumor going around that Tyrion indeed betrayed Dany and Jon to Cersei before the Dragnopit, and that they'll find out and, when the dust settles, he'll be judged.

I even read the thoughts that maybe he asks for trial by combat again, and he champions the Mountain/Gregorstein to fight for him. Dany champions Jon, and the Hound steps up and says something along the lines of "Sit the fug down, your grace. I've been waiting a long time for this" and BOOM CLEAGANEBOWL GET HYPE!

Hot Pie will be the king of the Seven Kingdoms.

    • If he sucks again and the stands are empty by week 5 they pull him. He will ride the pine. Tepper will not be embarrassed again. Tepper will be on the sideline with a headset calling plays by week 6. Dan will be running water to players and bringing them towels by week 8 if we suck again. Coach C will be so rattled he won't come out of the locker room.
