Delhomme has fewer TDs for the year than Brady has in one quarter

i will be down for the game this sunday, first home game for the panthers ive been to in years, but i fully expect to be booing delhomme off the field after he tosses up some more ints. I mean we played some pretty ugly football against the bucs and the skins, and the bills have played pretty badly the last 2 weeks as well, could be int for quite a stink fest unless we finally stick to the run and air it out to smitty or get him involved somehow.

I've always wondered how good Carolina would be if we could get a real QB just one time. I mean we have been a franchise for almost 15 years, has their ever been a team go that long without a good quarterback? I mean in the history of the NFL?

The Jake Delhomme we have now isn't the same guy we used to have. Don't undermine the things he's done here because of his recent performances.

Well, Jake HAS been to a Pro Bowl and he did have a couple of successful years here. I can think of plenty of teams who have not had a Pro Bowl QB in the past 15 years....off the top of my head, Browns, Ravens, Bucs....I'm sure there are more...

Lets show some rational thinking guys. His TD numbers were down last year as well. Wasn't because he wasn't playing well but we have a terrific ground game and we always run it in once we are in the redzone. This year he hasn't played well, but of our 10 TDs- 6 are by running backs inside the five. We should have 3 more except for fumbles. Even last year he only had 15 TDs or one per game.

Even if our offense picks it up expect the rushing game to score the touchdowns as that is our philosophy no matter who is at quarterback.

He was a good QB back then but not a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. I'm talking about having a QB who can single handedly win games for us. Even at his best Jake wasn't a game changer. He was great compared to what we were accustomed to but we have never had a guy who could just take over a game. It's sad to say that but it's true.

We don't need a Manning or Brady.... and honestly, a QB of that caliber would be a waste here...I am not defending Jake, but Jake is a game changer. He can swing momentum more that just about any other player on the team.. against the Panthers or for them. Against: The Panthers can lose all momentum when Jake throws a pick at crucial points in the game. Jake missed most of 07 and the team REALLY suffered for it. For: he can build momentum with his leadership abilities and can fuel the team to win games.. remember last year's bootleg run??

Again, we don't need Manning to make it to the Super Bowl.

We DO need a young, stable (consistent) QB with pocket presence that can accurately and quickly spread the ball around... Coaching could help Jake with all of this, but the team needs more than that... and Jake is getting old... he doesn't have "it" anymore. Every time he airs it out to Moose or Smith he either overthrows it or it is picked. Jake has been reduced to a HO that occasionally throws.

We need a QB that can perform well with and without our best O-line

    • You joke, but it can always be worse. He might walk with a limp or need assistance. Different sport, but Lonzo Ball couldn't even walk up steps a year after his injury.
    • I mean... a lot of the information that could've helped set better expectations has always been out there: There was no RB on the team under contract for the 2025 - 2026 season except for Miles Sanders. The team did not have a second round pick going into the 2025 season due to the trade for Young. Chuba's extension did not happen until the beginning of November. Jonathon Brooks was the clear RB1 in the class with a massive gap between RB1 & RB2. Example: Dane Brugler had Brooks as RB1, overall #48; Blake Corum was RB2, #81 overall. The Giants held pick #47 and had just lost Saquon Barkley to the Eagles in free agency. They were going to take Brooks had the Panthers not jumped in front of them. So if we're framing things with that context: Chuba was expected to be RB1 Miles (at the time) was RB2 Brooks was essentially RB3, stashed for rehab in 2024 with a long runway. The original injury occurred Nov 2023 while the re-injury occurred December 2024. That is right in the high-risk window for recurrence, especially in explosive athletes. The fact that it also happened on a non-contact play suggests possible biomechanical issues such as muscle imbalance, rather than a failed surgery (or bad decision-making).   NFL teams invest heavily in medically vetting prospects. If there had been a clear red flag in imaging or recovery markers, the team is going to find it. This sucks and the Panthers have sucked, yes, but this wasn't blind optimism or malpractice by the front office. It was a calculated decision based on the roster, draft capital, positional scarcity, etc.
    • Yep, but they can all rotate with Brown, Brown and Robinson (sounds like a law firm). Can't continue to have Derrick Brown out there for 90+ percent of the defensive snaps. An injury was bound to happen.
