Through 1/4 of the season what do we think we know about this team?

Stop & think. We lost a lot on the O-line to start the year and that was a major adjustment and probably even affected our play calling (more dump offs) which we've seen. Once they showed they were better we could maybe run. In passing without Samuel, we had no over the top speed once we realize Smith doesn't have that high gear we possibly thought. And we lost Olsen in this time period. It takes time to refigure what you really wanted to do and that's what I think they mean when they say we still haven't seen everything yet as it's evolving. As the team gets back to where it was in camp, we'll see those plays. I also think Moore needs time to play within the system. In Cam's naked bootleg, if Moore can block right, it's a big gain and he didn't. Everybody sees the catching and busting through tackles but it's the complete game he has to have to start. By the end of the year I see Moore, Samuel, Funchess and Wright as our 4 main WE's and that's gonna be fun to watch.

On defense, we have some issues. Maybe Star is a bigger loss then we think in the run defense? Everybody' a little older so maybe that has an effect? And we don't blitz like last year, so I don't have all the answers but hopefully they start to gel sooner then later. TD back could and should help. We just need to get pressure.

3-1 is a great start to a hopefully 12-4 season and home field advantage if we can beat the Saints at least once.

Our record is right where I thought it was going to be. We know what we have with CMC & Cam. We don't know, yet, what TD's return is going to mean to this defense. I think we will see a big increase in the use of our rookies going forward.

I know I am excited heading into the next 3/4 of the season.

Does that take our bye into account? Since we've played 1 less game have to look at sacks/game, not just the total.

I haven't had a chance to look at the stats though... Busy week for me.

Oh yeah, totally forgot we already had a bye lol Still seems like a pretty low number to me. And no, it does not take our bye into account.

To all of you wanting the younger guys to get more time. Remember Donte, Ian, and Obada all made mistakes that cost us points in the game. Don't forget that younger guys make mistakes.

vets do that as well. we've seen them get burned. we've seen them drop passes they shouldn't have made. you try to be risk adverse and you hold the team back. it's that simple.

mistakes are going to happen. you don't learn from them until you are given a chance to make them. you are going to have a lot more successes than failures when you do that. you may take a step back in some moments, but they will give you a chance to get 10 steps ahead in most others.

Obviously still extremely early, but sitting at 3-1 through the first quarter of the season, what do you all think we know about the team thus far?

I'll start it off with something positive:

- We can win games with any of the 3 phases carrying the team. Cowboys win was due to defense. Bengals win was due to offense. And yesterday's win was obviously on ST.

Whatta ya got?

My take is that we're still putting it together and recovering from injuries. We're going to get better as the season goes on. We're 3-1 coming off of an incredibly difficult, injury and suspension-riddled start to the season. This team has grit, tons of it.

I think this team is a lot better than we have seen, especially against atlanta and the giants. I think in both games we got lazy/tired and sloppy. we clean poo and tighten things up and I think we can take anyone one.

we haven't come near to hitting our peak in this season yet.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
