I hope youre correct. This team has never been consistent under Hurney. We started winning as soon as he was fired last time and started losing as soon as he returned. Yea, I know we went to the playoffs last year but getting knocked out first round doesnt really count.

  • Rivera seems to suggest that he has had positive talks with Tepper and feels confident.  He is not interested in playing Cam, KK, or Turner as a result.  That is not a good sign, and he seems to be brazenly throwing this into the face of the fans---because he is tired of hearing the questions about his job--it is as if Tepper is his only concern, not us.  Pisses me off.
  • However, Tepper has been on a roller coaster too--like buying a stock that makes money for the first half of the year and then nosedives the second half.  He made his money by making calculated decisions about future performance--so he may have been behind the demotions and firings.  If he wanted Tomlin fired in Pittsburgh once upon a time, how could he not want Rivera fired? 

At the moment, I am not seeing the signs that RR is going anywhere.  MH?  Maybe RR has convinced him that personnel is the issue--having said that, Moore, Jackson, and Thomas make a good draft by most standards--especially if you consider the LBs (Carter, Smith) have some value.  What was he thinking on Gaulden or Haynes?  I dunno--he is the same guy who used to draft college S to play at CB and CBs to play S.  He brought us Namakumara and pverpaid for Charles Godfrey.  He drafted undersized DE busts Norwood and Brown.  Does he learn from his mistakes? Can he evaluate talent? 

While Hurney's draft did not hurt him, free agency was tight.  He brought in Reid.  He also let Star walk and signed Poe.  That could be the dagger.  If I am Tepper, I let Hurney go.  Hard to fire a .555 coach with a Super Bowl appearance and three of eight seasons over 11 wins--and twice named NFL coach of the year.  Most know that was Cam and Luke despite RR, but Tepper needs to know it. 

Rivera stays, Hurney (I am on the fence) goes.  Sir Purr--I don't think he is really a knight--Mixon sucks.

How do you fire a GM for the failure of a staff. Rivera has already ran Hurney and Dave out of town. Also as clueless as Rivera is with the draft are you going to pair him with a young GM? Can you say disastrous. Rivera is the problem and as long as he's employed the Panthers are not going to win anything.

His win percentage is .555, something we all think is good enough to hold onto a job--but he had the best athlete ever to play QB on offense and one of the smartest and best to ever play MLB in Luke.  Imagine the Steelers with Big Ben only winning half of their games.

Tomlin (do not forget that Tepper supposedly wanted him  fired at some point) has been in Pittsburgh for 12 seasons.  He has NEVER had a team fall below .500 and his career win percentage is 66%.  Tomlin wins 1.5 games per year more than Rivera. 

That is consistency, and we do not have it with RR.  We should never have a losing season with an elite QB and a stud D, which has been the case much of the time.
