If running for 1515 yards and 20 tds doesn't gain you respect, I don't know what does.

Sure. Because what he did 6 years earlier should be the major deciding factor on paying him? Not the fat, lazy injured RB who had 219 yds the previous year. That’s exactly why the Panthers are the Panthers.

Only an idiot would pay somebody because they used to be good.

What the fug does paying him have to do with the original topic?

He's arguably our greatest rb, he should have been treated with respect. All players should be treated with respect.

Maybe it’s fans that are more worried about making a player the team cut feel good than actually winning games. D-Lo was pissed he wasn’t getting any more free money. That’s it.

What did treating DW with “undeserved” respect have to do with the original topic? I responded to your comment. Which was comical. And showed exactly why.

Meaning they should be kept around past their effective date and always be allowed to leave on their own terms.

It's okay if we lose games as long as we're always nice to players.

Good thing we have a GM in place who's capable of doing both those things.

No one said releasing him was wrong. There are respectable way to release players.

CJ took the release well...

You figure out the rest.

It's the kind of thing he goes to when he knows he's losing the argument.

Don’t worry. Not hard to figure out where you were going from the start. As always.

Sentiment over success

Should be the logo at midfield.

Pretty much.

"Hey, we've never won a championship, but it's okay because we're nice to players when we cut them."

DeAngelo Williams told WBTV on Monday he will be released

"We sat down and (Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman) told me 'The fact of the matter is we're going to have to release you,' " Williams told Molly Grantham. "I said you know, 'Why?' and he said, 'because we don't run the ball enough. Just like you said back before the season started, we don't run the ball enough to keep you and both (Jonathan Stewart), so we're going to release you.' "

What is so harsh about any of that? He could have told him the whole truth. That would have been brutal.

Only an idiotic coaching staff would have one running back taking almost 100% of the snaps.  It also wasn't like CJ wasn't productive here.  He was making plays, and averaged good yardage when he touched the ball.  There's no excuse for not getting him enough touches while he was here, and no excuse why we let him go.

    • Wide Receiver: Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers – 85.3 One of the more shocking developments of the 2025 NFL season has been the Carolina Panthers’ ascension to the top of the NFC South, which they achieved with Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers. Perhaps nobody has made a bigger difference than former eighth overall pick Tetairoa McMillan, who continued to be a steady presence in the Panthers’ offense. McMillan caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown in the win Tight End: Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers – 91.1 Evans only saw the field for 16 snaps, but he was efficient in his limited playing time. He caught all three of his targets for 23 yards on just six receiving snaps while also grading well in pass protection (72.2 grade) and as a run-blocker (68.4) Edge Defender: Nic Scourton, Carolina Panthers – 77.9 The former second-rounder out of Texas A&M has been a force along the Panthers’ defensive line, and he was a key contributor in Carolina’s huge win over the Buccaneers. Scourton recorded two stops as a run-defender and added another while in coverage. Scourton also tallied his sixth sack of the year while contributing another pressure to the mix Safety: Lathan Ransom, Carolina Panthers – 75.7 Another Carolina Panther on this week’s list, Ransom has typically been stronger in run defense — he carries an 85.2 grade in that field on the season. But Sunday against the Buccaneers was his best day in coverage. Ransom intercepted his only target, which wound up being the game-winner that put the Panthers in the driver’s seat in the NFC South
