So did anyone know we were bringing Zach Brown for a look????

Nothing has come of it.  We signed Irvin just after. But Irvin is an OLB and Zack is ILB. Wonder what the means for Shaq?

More proof of us going to 3-4

Brown has played in a 3-4 all but 1 season in the NFL. Was a stud at ILB in the 3-4

Very fast.  I know some Redskins fans whk weren't happy to see him leave the skins

It would be interesting to bring Brown in and Cut Shaq who I don’t see having a defined role in a 3-4(if we are going FULL 3-4). To small for inside and not enough length for outside. Would save 9 mil with Shaq and could use remaining for another position like FS.

Number 3 on PFF remaining free agents.

So is there any updates on Zach Brown visit?

Not that I can find.  He came to visit. Nothing past that.  I will say this if we do bring him in than it’s an indication that we are going full 3-4.  Not sure we want to show our cards on that before draft.  While we brought Irvin in that doesn’t give a true indication.  Bringing in Irvin could suggest to other teams a hybrid 4-3 or 3-4.

Zach Brown is a doggg! He and Luke would be insane together. Plus he's from SC I think. Getting a little long in the tooth, but would be huge if the team is planning to transition to 3-4 and go on a run.

Shaq really isnt to small

I posted in another thread awhile back reguarding 3-4

Most of the teams running 3-4. Atleast one of their MLB is 230-235

Shouldve let Shaq walk and sign Brown. Would’ve been cheaper and freed up a bunch of money.

My only worry is, whats up with him? I havent kept of with him since his college days. But he puts up huge stats each year and it seems like no team view him as a long term solution. I mean it aint like he’s costing an arm or a leg. Brown has averaged like 2m only a year since entering the league. Is he an underrated player or just another James Anderson?

I think he had some injury concerns last season. Other than that, he's been a wrecker against the run. Not great in coverage though, and in a pass happy league linebackers need to be great in both. I just think Luke would help close the gap in that area, and Carolina would be a good fit for him, particularly if the team is going 3-4.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
