Glad someone around here can admit they're wrong.  Crazy how many people lost their minds over the Reid deal

The worst part is that one of these posters not named B&B&B went on and on for pages bitching and complaining and is no where to be found. If he shows up  you can expect one post eating crow as if that makes up for the 100 complaining posts. Then he will  just move on to the next thread and do the exact same thing.

Yep, 100% accurate.  I'll also be waiting for 90% of the Huddle to eat crow about Shaq when he thrives this year in TD's position.    Of course, I could be wrong, but that's not likely

Don’t hold your breath man...you’re naive if you think they will eat crow in any scenario. Either he stinks and everyone will be saying he should’ve been cut, or he’ll ball out and everyone will he saying he should’ve been extended before the season. Or he’ll simply be adequate and people will be split down the middle one way or another.

In all fairness, it is in our best interest to do one or the other instead of him playing the season out with this $9 million cap hit...it’s just pretty risky for the FO to make a decision at this time since we really don’t know how Shaq will pan out in TD’s role full time. It can potentially backfire big time if we extend him now with guaranteed money and he puts together a stinker of a season, or if we cut him and he goes on to have a strong career for another team in the role that TD played for us. Just a difficult situation all around...it sucks for our cap space, but that’s why I ultimately wouldn’t blame the FO for letting him play out the 5th Year Option.

You're probably right. I would be in favor of a 5 year, $35 million contract with $14 million in guarantees that gives us an out after year 2 if he ends up not being the answer. Would probably lower our cap hit this year to about 5.5 million. I have a feeling that Shaq's agent would balk at that kind of deal for only $5 million more in guarantees compared to the 5th year option.
