I'm convinced you just like the sound of your own keyboard.

So, not up for it?

Prefer to be able to change your opinion based on the season's result?

You can't say that you are moving on if you goddamn keep engaging in 15,000 goddamn debates at every little Gettleman slight. Continuing to argue and debate people over and over and over and over and over about the same damn thing is not productive even in the slightest. It's fuging annoying. It isn't just you, the rest of the pro-Gettleman zealots and the pro-Hurney crowd are just as annoying. The remaining 95% of this board get pretty fuging tired of it. The thread hijacks, the NEW threads, etc, etc. fug. Just STOP it.

People are always going to have some cheap shots towards Gettleman the same way they did Hurney when he got canned for boning up our fuging roster. Stop getting baited into quibbling because someone sarcastically takes "Gettlemagic" shots. I hope Gettleman is a fuging absolute failure(and he is proving to be that for sure) because he is the GM for another fuging NFL team. fug the Giants.

Stop inventing these goddamn narratives for what is pro-Gettleman and pro-Hurney. We are all goddamn Panthers fans, so we need to be hoping Hurney 2.0 is the same fuging failure that Hurney 1.0 is or we are going to be in the same BS position that we have been for the history of the fuging franchise. Save the fuging Hurney attack dogs for when we fire his ass too. poo, then about 90% of the board will be right there with you. Just goddamn stop being the Dave Gettleman Defender in Chief. He damn sure isn't worth it. Neither of these two are the fuging next coming of Bill Belicheck or Ozzie Newsome.

What you're not getting is this is a way of settling all that.

Commit to it now, and if the year goes well, you can't credit Gettleman. Neither can you blame him if the year goes poorly.

Otherwise, you'll have the usual end-of-year response were people rewrite their opinions according to what happened and act like they knew it all along.

What YOU are not getting the only way of SETTLING this is to stop fuging DOING it. No one is fuging inflicting this upon you, you are inflicting it upon yourself and the rest of us.

I. Don't. Give. The. Flyingest. Of. fugs. About. This. fuging. Debate.

@Mr. Scot I just don't see what this achieves. People will have their opinions and season outcome doesn't need to be pinned on one person. You constantly derail threads at the sight of anyone saying a negative word about DG or a positive one about Hurney. If you believe DG is a god and Hurney is a bum then okay, that's fine. But both of them have had their hand in forming this roster. Both drafted and signed good players. Both drafted and signed bad players. Both have their pros and cons. But Hurney is our GM now so naturally Huddlers want to give him the benefit of the doubt and so far he's doing okay.

I honestly don't even know what your angle is. DG fan? Hurney hater? Some self righteous drive to point out the hypocrisy of football fans? At the end of the day it's just a fuging game. If you want to hang your hat on taking a meaningless stand then more power to you. Me? I'm going to just hope we have a winning season and Cam's arm stays healthy. GMs be damned.

Odd how the only people so far willing to give Marty full credit for the coming season are Hurney critics while Hurney defenders are acting like this is a horrible idea

It’s nonsense in that it doesn’t accomplish anything. What does this upcoming season do for settling the debate on whether or not Gettleman was a good GM for us? If we win the Super Bowl, then Gettleman was a horrible GM. If we go 0-16, then he was a great GM? Is that really the angle you’re going for? See how that sounds?

As mentioned, it's an attempt to put some integrity to the arguments.

Obviously, there's more to a season than just the GM. And yet even years after he's gone, on a regular basis some twit starts a Dave Gettleman thread. They're pretty much never started by people who think Gettleman was a good GM. Most of us hardly ever bring him up.

But truthfully, if we wanted to we wouldn't have to. There's always somebody prepared to do that for us.

Ya wanna talk obsession? That's obsession.

And a lot of the threads follow the same pattern: Anything good that happened in the Gettleman years is because of Hurney. Truth be told, it generally has little to do with hernia himself and more to do with guys like Steve Smith, Josh Norman, and yes, even Cam Newton.

So plain and simple, here's a way to settle it.

As mentioned, I'm willing to commit to giving Marty credit for a good roster if we have a great year. No spin. No excuses. Same deal if the year is bad. He gets the blame for his part in it. Any attempt to blame Gettleman at this point would be ridiculous, but that doesn't stop people from doing it.

Again, the only people willing to agree to this so far have been Hurney critics.

If we're really enthusiastic about the current roster, why be doubtful?

I don’t understand the challenge, I’m also not sure why a gm is judge solely off of record without any sort of context, hurney is responsible for last year too, but to act like our franchise qb shoulder didn’t catch aids midseason is just short sighted or being ignored for ulterior motives

If you're seeking integrity on an internet forum you're in for a bad time. Most of the people who post here are idiots and just parrot what other's say. It's most likely not even their actual opinion, just the flavor of the week.

Over a decade of being a Panther's fan makes me cautiously optimistic. One injury on the offensive line. One tweek of Cam's shoulder. One concussion to Luke. etc. There are a lot of "one" scenarios that have nothing to do with the GM. Unless you want to make an argument that he should have starters at positions of depth. I see what you're trying to do but I don't think you'll find any genuine satisfaction from it other than some obscure semblance of self gratification.

Also weird how people who were usually vehement about saying "Gettleman destroyed us,  Gettleman is destroying the Giants, blah blah blah" are now suddenly saying "well you can't really blame the GM for a bad season"

No one is saying that. You're arguing with yourself. LOL.

“Grow some balls” and call people out by name then? Don’t be coy and non-committal and just throw out vague statements.

Look, I can do that too! “It’s funny how so many people are claiming Gettleman was the best GM in history and that he actually called Marty Hurney before the 2011 draft and told him to select Cam Newton”.

    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
    • Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.
    • Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.
