NFL: Russell Wilson thinking of "the biggest contract ever"

Of course a thread about Wilson becomes another discussion about when we can push Cam out the door.

The price for quality QB play in the NFL isn't going down anytime soon, so ya'll either need to accept it or get used to rooting for a very bad team for several years.

Haven’t seen a single person on here campaigning to push Cam out the door... don’t think anybody really wants this.

The reality is if his shoulder can’t hold up for a second consecutive season, Cam’s next deal will be in jeapordy. That will just be reality

Does nobody else think that Wilson is the most overrated quarterback in the league? It's no exaggeration to say the dude just chucks the ball up all the time, whether it's a good or bad idea. He ALWAYS GETS AWAY WITH IT. His receivers catch the ball with their ears. Go look at the greenbay game a few years ago that sent them to the Superbowl for example #1.

I’m not a fan of his but I certainly don’t hate him like most seem to on this forum. Dude went to NC State, has never been caught up in a scandal, could have played baseball and has been to multiple  Super Bowls. He’s not a conventional QB but you really can’t argue that he’s not top 10 in this league and might be pushing for top 6-7

more QBs should be like Brady, taking less salary so the team can build around him. It's one of the reasons NE is so successful.

Brady has a company that gets paid by the Patriots, bet that loophole closes when Brady retires.

Brady also didn't take less money until he was 37-38, when he was Cam and Wilson's age, he signed a contract that made him the highest paid QB at the time.

Brady's cap hit in 2019 is 27 mil, which is, yes, smaller than it could be, but hardly the NFL's equivalent of minimum wage either.

The main reason for NE's success is Belichick, never been a coach like him.

You'd think teams would trade a young QB at the end of his rookie contract, but then you look at teams like Miami and Cleveland that have been trying to find a franchise QB for 2 decades without success you realize how dangerous that tactic can be for a GM.

It also helps when your spouse makes more than you...but he's "always about the team"  :eyeroll:

I used to hate Russell when he was getting all the attention and the comparison from him and Cam.    Then years went on and I feel like he's actually very underrated right now.    Look at the work he's done throughout his career, and he's been super healthy and dependable.    I wouldn't say his weapons are amazing either.

If he always gets away with it, it may be time to admit its skill, not luck.  He excels at that kind  of open field broken play stuff.
