How early would you take a QB?

I think you set a point in the draft and say we're not looking at a QB until this point. If you have 75% confidence in Cam's shoulder and future, that may be our first 3rd pick. If it's 95%, then it could become a 5th or 6th. Grade out everyone like you normally would, and at that point in the draft then you consider your options. No emotional decisions that cause reaching for a guy because you hope he may develop. Know what you want, know what you're willing to spend, and wait until the time is right to get it.

3rd.

Id go BPA out of Edge/DE, LT, DT, DB(in that order) in the first two picks.

If a QB that I love is there in 3rd(either pick), go for it. Future planning is needed if Cam can't play with a sore shoulder, why not have a young guy to make the shift.

Grier 3rd comp.  Mishnew 4-6.  Thorson late 6/7.

If none of those, then I hope it's a no QB draft.  Those guys aren't the top tier but could be more serviceable than Allen.  Still think Allen is a fine backup for next year.

That’s what I’m saying...I think all of us understand that this is a make or break season for Rivera and Hurney and for Cam. We have to see where that shoulder is and if it’s back right and then if it is how does it hold up all season and such. If he’s back to himself and balling out we don’t need anything more than what Derek Anderson was his first couple seasons here. A backup capable of winning a couple games in a pinch. IF Cam’s  arm is shot we will have to find a new Franchise QB.........AND that means Ron and Hurney will be let go. A brand new regime comes in and most likely will want to spend the top 10 pick we’re going to have if Cam is toast on THEIR guy. So the pick we spent this draft would be a waste or someone we’d have to try and trade and get value back for. Kinda like what we’re watching with the Arizona mess if they draft Murray...they’ll never get what they spent on Rosen back but they chose a QB when obviously they weren’t all in on Steve Wilks. So Rivera/Hurney on a prove it year is the same thing to me.

Thats why I think it’s horrible timing to spend a really high pick on a QB. Later rd guy to compete with Allen fine...but to me spending our top 4 picks to fill the holes on the roster we know we have is the smarter play. IF Cam’s done I’d want  a shot at Tua or one  of the top guys next year instead

If your confidence level is a coin flip, 50%/50%.....then what?

And what of 25%/75%?

Then you take a shot at the real quarterback prospects next year, not a turd in this years draft. The only 1st,.. I mean usually a 2nd round pick I somewhat like is Drew Lock— kind of a Nick Foles type. Similar size and arm.

All of these 1st round prospects are maybe 2nd round grades.

next year you get a real prospect with a much better pick also—

In your case where you keep presenting that Cam is done basically, or that is your wish, a top 10 pick would be the most desirable to get one of the best prospects in next years draft.

he’s not done, maybe a 5% or less chance of that, so the best you do this year is draft a reliable backup that may grow to more down the road.

Nobody is saying he is done.

Curious, going into last season what odds would you have laid that Cam would be unable to finish the season because of a bad shoulder?  Probably 0% right?

Never zero. No quarterback is zero chance of being out. People get concussions, ankles rolled, all kinds of stuff. That’s just silly.

im the one that was on the Nick Foles train and then said if they wanted to trade for Wentz that was win win too. Cam could pull an Andrew Luck and sit or play backup and we would have him as an option if we make the playoffs— then Wentz becomes tradable bla bla bla.

i like many just are not sold on needing a 1st or even 2nd round draft pick used on a quarterback this year.

now that most reports are that Cams shoulder is much better than last year— this surgery was just removing the scar tissue that was messing him up, a first round or 2nd round quarterback becomes a far less possibility.

I mean, If Drew Lock fell to the 2nd then maybe. kyler Murray is smaller than Michael Vick and I just think he has a 30% chance not to make it full seasons. So he wouldn’t be a choice either. Haskins is a statue, and Jones is a wild card.
