Things that need to happen:

Get better on defense. Stop staring at the puck and being careless with the puck in our own end.  Justin Faulk and Brett Pesce need to stop being dumbasses.

Staal, Williams, and Aho need to improve. I've seen Williams keep making bad passes that get intercepted and Staal wiffing on shots. Aho has been mostly a non-factor except for the goal he scored today.

POWERPLAY. It needs to improve tremendously. It is absolute dogshit. Has to be one of the worst in the league.

Stop committing dumb penalties! Yes a couple of them have been ticky tac, but we are just giving away chances to the Caps due to lapses of judgement by committing so many.

Last, but not least, fuging play the game from the start. When the first puck drops, get your head in the game. I'm sick of seeing this team play like they've never played a game of hockey in their life then suddenly we have to come back from a 2 goal deficit.

Getting Calvin back will be big. Hopefully he can go Monday. He has been skating supposedly so it's just a matter of how much longer he needs. With the series in jeopardy, if he's at least 80% I'm thinking they roll with him. Miss his presence out there.

Bottom 6 forwards need another year or so of playoff contention before we're a force. If we can somehow steal this series in 7 then that experience will be invaluable. It's not out of the question. It's literally about playing hard and smart from the start and getting scoring chances throughout the game and not just when we really need them. This team CAN beat the Caps, if they get out of their own way. Monday is for the life of the series. Drop that game and game 4 is almost a given. Will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

All I've read is he is back skating. Searched forever but haven't found a single mention of him.

same here but skating is good, man , do we miss him or what?game 4?

so if I understand this correctly... Dougie plays game 3 and so does Ferland...I like that we push back, its playoff hockey... and I assume that the calls will go our way at PNC.

CdH is still out. Fleury is still with TVR. Those two have to play well tonight. Svech is officially with Staal and Williams, but if we're struggling, put him with Aho and Teuvo. Mrazek staying in net. All of this is per Canes Country.

Boys, this is a must-win game. We can't split home. We have to have these next two.

    • Dave would have the excuse/logic that he hasn’t been able to bring a QB that fits his O.  That was the prior HCs QB and it got that HC fired with quickness.   Can’t expect Dave to win this year without a QB if he went 5-12.  Morgan tied Bryce to him by not dealing him.   Be horrible this year and Dave isn’t getting more time most likely
    • That's a serious word salad. Anywho. Both Justin Fields and Daniel Jones have always had something Bryce Young does not possess. The necessary physical tools.
    • What it feels like is a horrible source reality. What a person sees is a horrible source for reality. Stats can be easily misunderstood because because they are interpretive and contextual. Very large data sets with dozens more more connected variables are difficult to deal with and understand correctly. Throw in confirmation bias, abstraction, emotions and the way human brains are wired make it really easy to roll with eye tests and intuition. The negativity for Bryce was really high and most were ready to trade that asset for peanuts until the second half of last year when he began to play much, much better.  Hope sprang eternal.  The Saints game last year.  Going toe to toe and almost beating the two teams who went to the Superbowl last year.  Beating the Falcons when the Falcons had everything to play for.  Haters started adjusting their tune. Fan and media starting saying it looks like Carolina has found their franchise QB.   The real answer was and is, maybe. If he plays great on Sunday the anti-Bryce crowd will find other excuses or say it's only one game. If he plays horrible, it'll be more of the "I told you so. I knew it before he was drafted." (which is beyond stupid since there there is not an actual way to know if a player will be successful in the NFL or not.) I'll leave with a simple example.  Of the initial list of incompletions due to WR error, Jarod Goff has 0.  He was 31 for 39 at an almost 80% completion percentage.  His WR's much has balled out. Except when you add the facts that only 11 of those passes were to WRs.  14 were to RB's and 6 to the TE.  Gibbs has 10 of those receptions and he's elite so that explains why we shouldn't put much stock into this stat.  But then we see that Gibbs also set an NFL record with the least number of yards (31) for any player with at least 10 receptions in a game. Fun stuff! Oh yeah.  From week 1 how many people had Justin Fields and Daniel Jones playing at elite levels?
