A list of every top-tier free agent QB and possible top-tier QB draft pick next year

kyle orton is the only appealing qb on that list.

Agreed, Orton would be the only QB in the FA list that I would be interested in the panthers signing. As for the Draft list, Bradford doesn't have arm strength and then he also has the shoulder injury question mark, most of the QB's on that list aren't worth the spot they would be expected to be drafted at.

Sign Orton if possible and use the Draft picks on a WR, G or a young DT to add to the rotation.

I like Orton and Troy Smith.

If Bradford fell to us in the second, and we hadn't signed any FA then we could not afford not to take him. His shoulder will heal and he will be good, whether he plays next year or not.

I like Cambell. I'm pretty sure this will be his last season in DC. His problem, from what I've seen, is a make-shift O-line and changing systems like some people change underwear. So basically, his problem is DC in general.

If we were to draft, I like Snead or Mallett. Mallett especially, he has the size and the arm, but he doesn't have the experience. I have a feeling he'll wait one more year.

Mr. Scott is right... drew brees is the ONLY starting 2nd round choice and of all the late draft picks they ALL had to wait a lot of years before they started. As far as winning next year we must have a first round draft choice, but I do disagree with Mr. Scot on the homework part, I don't think there has ever been an NFL franchise that didn't do it's homework on a QB draft choice so I don't think one can do enough homework to have a QB suceed I think its mostly play calling and there physical abilities.

Like being able to hit a wide open reciever in the middle of the field and not overthrowing twice for two game losing interceptions... those abilities.

No to Campbell. Yes, the OLine is a major problem, but Campbell compounds that problem by not getting proper reads and consistently checking down with open receivers downfield.

The thing that always has to be remembered when talking about first rounders is the high failure rate. Yes, there are the Mannings and the Ryans and such, but for every one of them there's a Tim Couch or a Ryan Leaf.

When they're good, they're great. When they're bad, they can set your franchise back for years.

For the record, I do favor using high picks on QBs. But you have to do your homework first. The stakes are high and the risks are huge.

I think for every Manning or Matt Ryan there's 2 or 3 Ryan Leafs, Joey Harringtons, Tim Couches, David Carrs, etc etc etc.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
