Not really on Butler. 3-4 means 3 “bigger” DL instead of just 2. We can’t go 3-4 starting Short, McCoy and Poe with Love as the only backup. Butler’s not likely to get waived. Plus he’s still cheap. It’s the outside where we’ve got a legitimate logjam, which isn’t a bad thing. For the 2 end/OLB spots we’ve got Addison, Irvin, Burns, Miller, Cox and Obada. I might even be missing someone. Some say Obada is big enough for 3-4 DE, I’m not so sure.

Yep, I forgot Haynes. Definitely won’t be keep all those edge guys. I’d think we’ll keep 10 DL. 5 DT/NT/3-4 DE and 5 DE/3-4 OLB. Probably 4 ILBs in Luke, Shaq, Carter and Smith. Again, I’m probably missing someone and with 8 DBs likely there’s probably 2 more spots on D for extra LB/DB special teams guys.

It wouldn't shock me if Butler gets cut. I think he fits better as a NT backup than a 5 technique backup like so many people were talking about earlier in the year, but sucky is a sucky and so far Butler has just been sucky.

I caught just a bit of Colin Cowherd on the way back from lunch today. He suggested that the Packers may be cutting Daniels to ease the burden of paying Aaron Rodgers $35 million a year.

He finished by saying that in a passing league where QB's are making over $30 million per season teams are going to have to be willing to cut ties with very good players in order to pay these elite QB's (which I believe are way overpayed and hurting the ability to build depth on both sides of the ball). He thinks KC let Dee Ford go this off season because they know they're going to have to give Pat Mahomes the biggest contract in NFL history next off season.

Thoughts?

He's not wrong.  For once.
