What can Brian ‘'Spider-Man'' Burns do that Cam ‘'Superman'' Newton can't? Apparently the ‘'Spidey'' poses the Panthers' first-round draft pick did following each of his two sacks during Thursday's exhibition win at Chicago. Newton tried to duplicate the poses on the sideline and failed. ‘'No one else can do it but me,'' Burns said on Sunday.

The best quote out of the Panthers' camp on Sunday came from head coach Ron Rivera when asked what it will be like having former Carolina defensive back Captain Munnerlyn on the opposite side when Buffalo comes to Wofford College for a Tuesday-Wednesday joint practice. ‘'It'll be like the yappy dog,'' he said. ‘'Somebody rings the doorbell and the dog starts barking.''

This is starting to be a slightly bigger deal imo because if this continues he’s going to be out starting free safety and I wouldn’t be upset it means Ross can handle the job he has all the tools let’s see how it plays out this week leading up to game two which starts to show who starting where.

Now that's a sentence!

Panthers' camp observations: 1. Pro Bowl DL Kawann Short left practice early after being hit in the shin. Doesn't appear serious. 2. fun battle of the day: WR Curtis Samuel caught a perfect deep sideline pass from Cam Newton after he got slightly behind starting CB James Bradberry; Bradberry got in front of Samuel to knock down a pass in the end zone later; 3. PK Joey Slye, who was 3-for-3 on field goals in Thursday's exhibition opener, handled all the kicking duties as Graham Gano continued to nurse a sore knee. Something to keep an eye on; 4. The red zone defense did a number on the first-team offense on the last team drill; 5. TE Ian Thomas, who suffered a rib injury on Thursday, did not practice. Neither did RB Jordan Scarlett (back), who is losing ground to undrafted rookie Elijah Holyfield.

Does this guy even know sports?   Scarlett was running as the #2 before injury.  Now he thinks Holyfield has overtaken him.  I know it sucks that Scarlett isn’t on field.  But he will be.   You don’t go from 2 to cut simply because of a ding.  Loosing ground?   Wtf

Or a sack since the defense can't hit him. We saw that on Greg's one hander earlier in camp where I think Irvin pulled up and Burns had to do the same as well. Hard to tell without seeing the play. Either way, there's one starting QB we'll never face so still good to hear.

Just a little bravado/smack on my behalf.  I wasn't trying to declare the actual outcome.

Yeah and he said on an earlier post when training camp started that Scarlett was a 7th Rd pick. What a dufus!

    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
    • draft me at 19 a lean mean tackling machine
    • good then help Evero help the Carolina Panthers by investing in the defense ...just saying
